Famous noodle with locals and foreigners alike but due to its location (quite old with over a century of history), the address is not well known.

It took a bit of time to find this place. I got the recommendation from a Lonely Planet kind of guide book at the hotel. The place was filled with locals. Don't expect a fancy ambience. Stools and rickety tables is what you get. I went some years ago (but the dropdown menu didn't let me tag it that far back). My goal was to eat dumplings and noodle soup both of which were good and inexpensive. It was quite late when we finally found this place and we were starving, so no pics except for green tea while we were waiting. I don't remember English being spoken there, but we were able to make do with pointing and figuring out the exact payment with no problems. They are used to tourists.

I’ve been trying all the famous wonton mee in KL , so far no one of these places can beat or compare to Koon Kee wonton mee ! My favourite is steam chicken mushroom mee , the chicken taste better than any other hainanese chicken in town ! The middle is very tasty & authentic , it reminds me of my childhood ...

The wantans brought me close to tears - this was the taste I remembered from when I was 5 years old and eating my favourite lunch of soupy wantans. The charsiew (barbecued pork) noodles were okay, the meat was soft and tender, but I was so taken by their wantans. Perhaps the next time I'll try their soy-sauce chicken noodles instead.

If not for a friend who brought us, we would not have been able to find this place. It was really nice - we all had the famous char siew wan tan mee. The noodles and char siew were delicious. I found the wan tan to be a little bit on the salty side although everyone else thought it was OK. Service was prompt, although they forgot one plate of noodles and one of us had to wait for her plate of wan tan mee while the rest of us were already eating ours.

Small, dirty, cramp place.
Service is poor... don’t think of it.
Wantan noodle is loaded with oil. Char Siew is tough.
Prices are cheap.
If you are on a bugdet and want to save money, you can come here to eat.

Koon Kee is an old establishment in KL famous for their springy wan tan noodles. I love their char siew which is nicely caramalised and has a good soft texture. The food is fuss free but the problem is the terrible stench from a nearby drain. Put this smell and thought aside, and you can enjoy a nice plate of good old fashioned wan tan mee.

My must go to place when I drop by in Petaling street (another is Fung Wong Biscuits for their momoso). Have to agree that standard has decline but the taste of the sauce on the wanton mee still brings back the nostalgic memories of the past.

i understand, many people go crazy for this koon kee, but for me, it's below average. the noodle itself springy and fragrant, but lack of flavour. the pork was sold out at 14.00 so i got the chicken which look like puke.
i won't come back to this store again.

The stall/ coffee shop just a few steps away from hon kee porridge...except this one opened not so early, think it opened at 10am???
Ordered the wan tan noodles...Mmm, really delicious with easy to chew noodles and lots of garnish and the meats, veggie...and the dumpling soups too.
Highly recommended.

We were walking down Petaling and it was time for lunch. Scanned through google maps and saw this place, so went to check it out. Ita located midway of Jln Petaling at the first cross junction ina small shack like stall. Went in and got a table. The waiter told us no char siew(roast prok) - that was a bit disappointing as how do you eat wanton mee without char siew? Anyway, the altenative was chicken, and since we were hundey, we ordered anyway. Well, when out plates arrived, we had char siew - we the lucky ones to have the last batch for the day.
Anyway, the taste is nice. This is the black type of wanton mee. No chilli though - have to add the cut green chilli for spice. Taste is nice and notable was the springyness of the noodles.

Food quality is maintained, and a lot of crowd. Highly recommended the wan tan mee and the dumplings.

Despite Petaling Street being a tourist attraction which attracted many tourists, this is one reason I will come back to this area albeit hidden from the normal main road, Also don't be put off by the look of the place especially the cleaniness .
One of the best wantan noodles which have been around for a long time. Noodles are freshly made and stringy. I tried the dry one. There is a choice of dry or soup with chicken, char siew or chicken feet and mushrooms. It is one of the most delicious and cheap wan tan mee around Kuala Lumpur .

One of the old famous wanton noodles in KL, that is still maintaining its standard. Price is reasonable for its value.
The restaurant is old and has not been upgraded, with its old charm. Some of the workers are as old as the furniture there. However, the service is ok and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. Would go again when I visit Chinatown.

Ordered small wanton mee, was charge 6.50myr, instead of 5.50myr. Maybe we keep taking image of the food, they know we are tourists. Food was nice, but not terrific. Good to have a quick breakfast.
