Came here with my girlfriend and was pleasantly surprised! The quality of food was good, as most dishes that we ordered was up to standard. However, I would suggest skipping on the creamy butter prawns, as it was quite expensive for the portion and the taste didn’t blew my mind. On the other hand, the service by Shalu was amazing 👍🏻. She made sure to check on us from time to time to ensure that everything was going well. Thanks Shalu!

Me and my partner went here for a dinner last night whilst visiting KL as we wanted some traditional Malaysian food in a restaurant setting. We had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and our waiter, Marvin, made the whole experience so wonderful - he even let us play the tradition harp that they had on stage!
Would definitely come back here.

The restaurant is very nice, located in a touristic area of Kuala Lumpur. We were 5, and they kept the kitchen open until late in the evening for us.
Shalu, the waitress, was really friendly with us.
We shared and can really recommend the fish meal, which is sold for 2 people but can suit 3 not starving people also.

We always have a really good time in Opium not only because of the food in the ambience of the restaurant but also of the very good service of Roy. He knows how to balance friendliness and professionalism. He always remember our favourites dishes but also he is willing to make suggestions for new delicious dishes.

gladly that evening I went for snacks in this restaurant there is live Chinese authentic instrument player is there. it makes the environment calm and relax. we were looking for chinese food nearby. they have it there as a la carte. although it's a pricey but there is no other restaurant nearby that serves Chinese food at 9pm on the evening. they have very worth dim sun package in the morning. the food was tasty and the staff in very friendly. the food portion is a bit smaller than I expected but it was worth it. I found a drink from their restaurant menu that other restaurants doesnt has and it was their mango tango.there is a sour plum and a slice of fresh mango in the drink and it taste quite refreshing. it was a pleasant evening.

The best food I ate in KL was in Opium, contemporary Asian cuisine with a twist is the only was I can describe the food. I struggled making a decision of what to eat so much, I chose to go for 5 dishes; two starters and 3 mains. My only regret is not visiting this incredible restaurant more often. I started with the chicken satay steamed dumplings (for my photographer) and the Vietnamese yam rolls. They came in small bamboo pots and I don’t think I am able to say which of the two tasted better.The main courses were even better than I had imagined when reading the menu. Opium wanton noodles, crispy duck noodles and golden pumpkin pot with poppy seed rice (I wish I had also ordered the lotus leaf bun too). As a dinosaur I would never have thought to put pumpkin in a curry. It worked beautifully, there was a hint of spice which didn’t overpower the subtle pumpkin, sweet basil and coconut milk. Another really delicious part of the meal was the fried spinach which came with the wanton noodles. I will never again call spinach boring, this was an absolute game changer for me. This was without a doubt the best meal I ate in Malaysia. I cannot recommend Opium enough, it may be classed as upmarket and one of TripAdvisor’s top picks but all the food I ate cost around £28 (a bargain in my eyes).

The staffs and service we've received during our dining were pleasant and good.
Loved the concept and gimmick of the restaurant's ambience.
The given price for the buffet menu is actually appropriately priced however there were a few cons.
The fried items/dim sums we got were either bland or had an off taste to it. A couple of the fried items we got were a bit off putting and sour which is definitely causing some upset tummies for the time being. The noodle selections were good although realized that the flavours/seasonings were inconsistent when ordered for the second time of the same item.
Overall the whole ordeal was subpar and we were a bit disappointed as we actually we're hyped up to dine at the restaurant since there were good reviews and the food looked good on the website in return what we got were stomaches instead.

Went there last night, the place was almost empty. We ordered several things off the menu and some drinks. The drinks were excellent but the food was just ok and very small portions. The service was pretty fast but the price was high (195RM) for 4 appetizers (two types of xio mai, 1 shrimp curry, 1 bowl of rice, 1 very small salad) and 3 non-alcoholic drinks. Atmosphere was nice but we had a lady talking loudly on her phone for about 20 minutes so that was unpleasant.

This is the best restaurant I tried in Kuala Lumpur. Although the menu has too many chicken choices, the quality and presentation of the food is incredible.
Moreover, the service is top; Jonathan Shalu was looking after us throughout the meal and offered an amazing service. He was very knowledgeable about the dishes and confident in giving advices; he will be the reason why I would happily come back

I was on my way to Jalan Alor when I got lost and came across Opium. It was recommended by my friend. I checked out the menu and found that they had All You Can Eat Dimsum and Noodles with Cold or Hot Lemon Tea.
Marvin and Ken were very hospitable. They recommended some must tries and they refilled my glass and check on my food platters every now and then. They also made sure that I could take good pictures of the food and myself in the restaurant. They were very kind to have small talks with me too (something I really appreciate since I am a solo traveller).
Dan was also pleasant. He looked busy in making sure all the customers were having a good time.
The interior of the restaurant was uniquely designed. I felt like I was somewhere else.
The food were delicious. 😋 I love dimsum, that's why!
I recommend you all to try the Opium noodles.

Me and my husband dine in during mco and the service is very attentive. We have small problem on the food served and the restaurant manager - Ricardo (sorry if I didn’t get your name correctly) solved it in professional way. Very pleasant dining experience

Jonathan has the best customer service I've ever seen amongst all the bar and restaurants I've been to. He knows the menu very well, the best and hot seller, drinks of the month, and he knows exactly which drinks suit our taste after listening to our preference. Plus, he was super friendly and with a great smile.
As for the place, it has a really traditional Chinese vintage vibe with the interior design. Great ambience. The food is really delicious and has large portion. Price is reasonable. Will definitely come again with friends.

Although the ambience was great, the food and service were terribly lacking. The food was white-washed, lacking flavour and spice. The dim sum served tasted as if it was store bought from the frozen aisle of a supermarket. The beef rendang had no punch and was watered down. Other dishes were barely memorable and overpriced. The waiters were also not attentive and slow. Am very disappointed considering the good reviews. Our experience certainly did not reflect the 4.5 rating. As a local, would not come again or recommend to anyone. Seems like just a tourist trap to me.

I had a great dinner in this lovely restaurant. I was alone but the waiter Marvin made me feel like I wasn't. I loved the food, the traditional music that was played by a musician girl and talking with Marvin. Thanks for all the advice!
