Ordered garlic prawns with bread. They cooked the prawns, brought them out and then told me there was no bread. If there is no bread, then please don't cook the prawns. Just tell me. Don't trick me. A pity, as it wasn't a bad restaurant...otherwise. I've taken friends there a few times. I don't think I'll go back, however.More

Went there for tapas. Good service despite average food. There are much better choices in KL whether Pinchos or Marta’s kitchen.

As opposed to Italian, Spanish restaurants are more limited in Malaysia. However, the lure of various tapas, paella, and cold cuts (think the divine Jamon Iberico de Bellota as example) proved too much to resist. I have a few favourite Spanish restaurants and now I...can add Mercat Barcelona as one of them. Interior-wise it's more towards casual style and if it's crowded, it can get pretty noisy. Wines, gins, beer are available for a good night out but the focus are on their food now. ◾Fried Fresh Spanish Boquerones (European anchovies) - fresh and nicely fried with the accompanying aioli. Perfect snack ◾Fardos of Iberico Ham with truffle cream and apple compote - who knew that they made a good combination? ◾Spanish chorizo cooked in red wine - I love chorizo and red wine so what to complain? ◾traditional tomato cold cream (originated from Cordoba) served with Serrano ham, boiled egg and conserved tuna. Basically it's Gazpacho, a Spanish cold soup but with added ham, egg and tuna.. normally I don't like my soup served cold but the extra ingredients made the difference. ◾Iberico presa with shaved manchego cheese - I died-ed a little.. so heavenly. The thinly sliced iberico presa married perfectly with the manchego cheese. Easily my favourite dish of the night. They have another outlet in Mont Kiara but I had only gone to their Bangsar outlet only.More

We headed to Mercat for an early dinner and had ample choice of table. The dove right into the paella menu as that would take a 30 minute cooking/eating time. We settled on the squid ink paella on the recommendation of our server. There were...no regrets from those around the table - cooked to perfection; amazing taste; plentiful of squid. We also had 4 tapas and loved each and every one of them. Mum’s comment - lovely chorizo without the saltiness that one would expect from sausages! A place that we would return for another try of the tapas and paella.More

Recently came back from KL. Was Searching for a good spanish place for a business meeting with my Spanish client. Later found out on Mercat. Didn't had high expectation as it out of Europe. But to my surprise the food we had is really authentic...as they say. I felt like I am in a place of Barcelona. Later after dinner we tried their Gin cocktail which they say is Best G&T in town. I was even more surprised to see their collection of Gin and How they serve. So delicate that we ended up having 3 round of gin each of us. If I have chance will definitely go back. Great Job !!!!!!!More

I recently came to Kl for 2 days visit. And a evening before leaving I spent here and it is such a great experience. The food was great the beef and the cooked chorizo is must try dish. But the best thing is their gin...and the service crew how they educate you on gin and serve a perfect G&T depending on your preference. I had 2 gins if had more time I would definitely try more. Must go Spanish place and best G&T!!!!!!!!More
