Happy hour on a Tuesday. 3 people in the place. Bartender who had about as much personality as the napkin my cocktail sat on. I think an employee was one of the other two. Lol. Drinks were good. Tv on with volume and music playing from a personal Bluetooth speaker behind the bar. I'm staying at the hotel next door... More

Really was looking forward to having dinner here. We ordered a meat pie (which wasn't a pie ) and a medium rare burger. The meat pie was a wedge or slab of food on a plate with over cooked, cold asparagus. The medium rare burger was raw. The food was also cold. The staff was rude and walked away while... More

I have been going to chess and checkers for many years while traveling on business, they are one of my favorite places in the leiheigh Valley Allentown area. The bartenders are friendly efficient in a way that could be off putting at first, however they are really nice and will take good care of their guests. I can go months... More

Living in the Lehigh Valley all my life I have avoided going to Chess & Checkers due to word of mouth comments. I finally wanted to go to make my own assessment. After dinning there last night my opinion was confirmed, go somewhere else. To begin, my brother and I went there at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. There... More

Nothing spectacular here. We were there on a Sunday night at 6pm and there was only one other group of 6 in the building. Food was mediocre.

Why we had not tried this before on one of our visits is beyond me. Out of the 8 of us, EVERYONE loved their meals. It was one of the best meals I've had in the ABE area. Considering it is within walking distance of our hotel, we will be going there every time we go back to PA. The... More

My husband thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake, which was almost completely crab and had only enough filling to hold it together. I had a delicious filet mignon. Both were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the hand cut French fries. The server was pleasant and observant. He was very helpful as we were navigating my husband's wheelchair. The ambiance was... More

I went in for dinner and ordered a filet mignon cooked medium. What I received was a flat piece of meat, about 3/8" thick, that was tougher than a NY strip. Why call yourself a steakhouse if you don't know how to cook a steak? It was a shame because the decor was really nice and there was a fireplace... More

I was not impressed with this place. I saw the sign that said Best Crab cakes, so a colleague and I went in on a weeknight to have a beer and eat some quality crab. We sat at the bar and we ended up being one of only 3 patrons in the bar that night. The guy next to us... More

We had "time to kill" before our flight back to Florida and wanted something besides fast food so thought we'd try Chess and Checkers. It was about 12:30 and the place was deserted. Might be because the location is not the easiest to get to. Waiter was very pleasant . We decided to order the crab cake lunch- mine on... More
