Went to get a cup of coffee and pulled up. Noticed a HUGE group of alternative punk rock kids outside. We were entering and got charged a cover fee of $5 each person. Went in and a live metal band was playing. The music was so loud we couldn't even order the coffee. I finally ordered after screaming. One of... More

Great salads, and baked goods. Drinks are wonderful here and the waitstaff is very Austin! A great place to sit back and enjoy people watching, and very relaxing.

My lunch partner and I both had the kick’n chicken salad sammie, which is spicy southwest chicken salad with tomatoes on a fresh toasted ciabatta. Nice experience for a pleasant lunch in this out of the way place. Very comfortable, no nonsense place. There is a stage set up for live music later in the evening. Local. Fresh food. Find... More

Odd location around the corner from Highland Mall, but it is worthy of your time and money. We tried their sausage burrito, very good. The donuts fabulous with the coffee. It was a good experience.

Passed by here a month ago, had to check out today, didn't get coffee this time as was late in the day, but purchased an assortment of cookies for my family, they are a good size, made in house, and come in a wide variety of unique flavors, most unique was the Fizzy Pop (fruity pebbles, white chocolate, macadamia and... One of the most interesting and colorful coffee shops in Austin. Even has a conference room (perfect for Austin style meetings).

Great to visit a coffee shop where the baristas are actually happy to help. I've been a few times and always had great service and a good time. Will I have a few too many cocktails one evening and try my hand at the open mic night? Perhaps, but it's great to have that as an option!

"With a name like Kick Butt, you'd think the atmosphere in this coffeehouse would lean toward assertive—-or at least jittery. 'Kick back' is far more descriptive. Unpretentious and un-corporate, Kick Butt Coffee Music & Booze is the creation of Austin's renowned Tai Chi and Kung Fu master, Thomas Gohring. Here you're just as likely to bump into artists, musicians and poets as you are entrepreneurs, office workers and bean counters. The art of latte-making has been mastered. Deliciously original “samiches” named for legends like Jackie Chan are featured on the menu. And don't resist treating yourself to the “Ying Yang” white and black chocolate cake. Kick Butt Coffee Music & Booze has earned its well-deserved black belt in mouth-watering fare and entertaining yet relaxed ambience. The only thing you'll have to fight here is the impulse to sip, eat and linger all day and night." - Magic 95 FM
