I can't speak to the comparison between this and Franklin BBQ, but I can honestly say this might be the best BBQ I've ever had. We decided to skip Franklin on account of the ridiculous line, but I couldn't be happier. The peppery-bark brisket and...More
It was too hot and the wait was too long at Franklin's. Rental car guy suggested J Mueller BBQ. Located in an empty lot we felt like we got an authentic Texan BBQ experience! Staff was patient with this tourist and food was great.

Not a restaurant so much as a food truck/trailer and some picnic tables under a tent. Go for the BBQ! Great food with spice!
Please see reviews of La Barbecue. Same place, but new name, same address, and still great bbq. JMueller unfortunately had to leave, but (I believe his sister) no runs it and has a great new bbq chef, who (again, I believe) trained with Aaron Franklin.
We weren't there on a weekend, so maybe that's why the line wasn't bad at all. Lots of street pkg. The bbq was great. I had the brisket.
