Four of us (all from out of town) went to Cafe Josie's a couple of nights ago and had a marvelous dinner and a very fun time ordering small plates and often tasting each other's dishes. The Experience - meaning you order an unlimited number of small dishes for $45.per person must be ordered by the entire table and is... More

Such a unique concept - prix fix unlimited tapas portions! Excellent flavors, a perfect number of options for our table of four. The $45 pp price may seem low, but once you add alcohol, dessert, tip it can easily double, BUT IT IS WELL WORTH IT. Now serving cocktails, which are well made. Great wine by the glass options. This... More

The restaurant is a little set back from the street, but we found it pretty quickly. We had 'the experience', which offers as many small plates as you can eat and I heartily recommend it, since each dish is a little surprise. We especially loved the fried Brussels sprouts and the fried chicken, but there were many more dishes and... More

Visited this evening and tried "the experience." For $45, you get a tasting menu with many options. Eat as much as you would like off the tasting menu, I was only able to handle 8 small plates before I felt like I needed to be rolled out! Great service and good quality food. I would recommend this place to anyone... More

I read about this restaurant and wanted to try it due to a snapper dish that sounded great. When we arrived we discovered there was a unique tasting menu. For $40/person, you can try as many dishes as you wish off their tasting menu. It is fairly extensive. However not being hungry enough, we opted for a la carte. We... More

Blown away. The food, the service, the ambiance, the whole experience was luxurious and the evening felt special. We had a big table so we tried almost everything on the menu with the exception of only a few dishes. Incredible. Seemingly simple plates of food made with incredibly complex and exquisite flavour combinations. My gosh, I love this place. I... More

The menu is awesome. They will serve you everything on the menu for one price $40. Wine list, while not extensive, wasn't too expensive and paired well with the food. The pickled watermelon was exceptional as was the brisket. Meats are all smoked in house, and it shows. One of the best meals I've ever eaten

Our favorite restaurant when we lived in Austin, Cafe Josie proved its mettle on our recent visit. The terrific tasting menu not only totally wowed us the first night...it proved every bit of good on our visit the next night.

Cafe Josie as a namesake has been in Austin since the '90's and has reached a new plateau with its creative new kitchen, menu and marketing! It's past was a trailblazer in spicy Caribbean influences in a market saturated at that time with Tex-Mex, BBQ and pasta. Current chefs have their own way to express themselves for today's Austin. And... More

We have been fans of Café Josie for more than 15 years, but were not aware of the new ownership and the option to try "the experience." Friends told us they had gone to CJ and tried the small plates tasting menu...and it totally lived up to their great recommendation. The "Experience" consists of being able to sample nearly everything... More
