It is nice, family owned Vietnamese restaurant. We have been coming here since the day this place opened in 1999. I like the environment, cleanliness of the place, and friendliness of the staff. They have a wide range of food to satisfy your needs. I always go there for their famous Bún bò Huế (spicy beef soup), spring rolls (with... More

Simple, small cafe in a strip mall, but don't let that put you off--the food is fresh and wonderful, and has many fabulous vegetarian options (there's a whole "Vegetarian" section of the menu). It looks to be a family-run operation, and they told me they make everything there in-house, including the perfect baguettes for the banh mi, and the delectable... More

In a small strip mall, in North Austin, you will find Tam. It is open six days a week (closed Tuesday). It is an ideal place to pick up some freshly made banh mi sandwiches. The bread is always fresh and the meats and pickles with touches of cilantro and always good. We have had dinner there several times and... More

It kills me to write this review. I'm only doing so in the hopes that the owners/managers address what was a serious breach in (what I consider) food safety violations. We have been coming to Tam Deli for their delicious Bahn Mi sandwiches for years and have never had a bad experience. But today...Ewwwww. We sat down and ordered our... More

This was a great ( and popular) place for a quick lunch! The #94 lemongrass steak salad was fantastic. The French bread used for the sandwiches was fresh and very good. The spring rolls were made with fresh ingredients, and delicious.

This small, unassuming, family-run place can be a bit difficult to find, but it is well worth the effort. The menu is extensive and everything I've had on it has been very well done. Their sandwiches are made with their own home-made bread, which is the best I've found in Austin. I especially like the shrimp and egg sandwich. Their... More

We have been eating (and mostly getting take-out) at Tam for about 15 years. If they wanted to upgrade the atmosphere and double their prices, they could. It's a small family-owned place, and everything is good, especially the rice wraps, which you don't see at many Vietnamese places in Texas. There is a definite French influence as seen in the... Tam Deli and Cafe is our favorite place to eat in Austin. It is cheap and always great. They have a larger variety of Vietnamese sandwiches (Banh Mi) than any other place I know of in Austin or anywhere, and they are all great. The shrimp & yam fritters (#9 on the menu) is outstanding. Their banh xeo (a crepe... More

We love TAM DELI! Love the owners (and the wry husband), love the sandwiches, bun bowls, dumplings. Love love the almond cookies and cream puffs and coffee. This isn't the place to go for a leisurely romantic dinner or a special occasion, but it's just great food, freshly prepared and promptly served. It's a tiny place, strip mall atmosphere, but...
