I love Mussels and a friend of mine kept telling me that Clay Pit has the best mussels! The Curried Mussels "are simmered in an aromatic garlic and red wine curry." She is right. Their lunch buffet is well priced and the choices are delicious! The chicken is delicious, the salads are fresh. The fruit is ripened and tasty and... More

Indian restaurant in downtown Austin. A little different as it seems to be staffed by locals, although the Indian head chef/owner made an appearance to ask if the food was good....and it was! Really pleased with the service experience.

Clay pit has great ambience and good service but be prepared to wait for long periods of time if you go there without booking.

Probably the most interesting this about this restaurant is the building in which it is located - an old, landmark building in downtown Austin. The food is good, but not the best Indian food I've had in Austin. We took our daughter for her birthday and hoped for more. It is moderately priced.

I have been to this restaurant on two separate occasions and I highly recommend the Sunday lunch buffet. There are plenty of vegetarian and meat options. I particularly enjoyed the samosa appetizers, the lentil soup and the mango custard for dessert. Rest of the food was great as well. They serve fresh naan bread and the service is quick. I... More

Did a Happy Hour visit here this past week. The food was tasty and inexpensive. I had an infused martini and the mussels. Both were very good and inexpensive. We stopped by another night for a glass of wine and some papadums. Another successful visit. We did not have a full meal, but if the bar food is an example,... More

We visited on a cold night. We had hoped to sit at the bar for happy hour but there were five of us and the bar area is very small. We sat in the restaurant and the service was very friendly. We tried pakoras, samosas, calamari, two different chicken curries, naan and a soup. All the food was tasty. We... More

This is the worst indian restaurant in fact one of the worst restaurants likely in Austin. I'm from India and ashamed to see clay pit masquerading their offerings as "Indian" food. We'd the lunch buffet which had a fish item which was incredibly bitter. Thats what happens when u screw up the mustard in an indian dish. Other items were... More

The portions are perfect, the food is great and the service is terrific! Get the garlic and basil naan/ cheese and jalapeno naan. The chicken tikka masala is wonderful as well as the shahi paneer. Their cocktail menu is also extensive with some great options.

Attended a wedding reception here. Super fun and tasty. Full bar. Great staff. Parking lot. Bride and groom vegetarians. Surprised how tasty Indian vegetarian food is!
