We ski at Alta every year and look forward to our late lunches at the Watson's Shelter restaurant (Collins Grill). You can take off your ski boots and they provide you with slippers to give your feet a break after a long morning of skiing. The food is very good, and service is always friendly.

Even if you hate to lose a few minutes skiing, you'll like Watson's Shelter. Great soup, burgers, etc. Huge windows to look out at the mountains. And when it's warm, sitting outside is treat. I'd go again. In fact, I will. Tomorrow.

I love this place... probably because if I'm here I'm skiing... so... Of your two choices for mid-mtn. eats the Watson Shelter is my fav. Its smaller than Alfs, has more stairs but it just 'feels' better. Its a new building, has a different menu than Alfs and sports a fancy sit down restaurant upstairs - which I've never been... More

The shelter has come a long way from the one story wooden 'barn' of the old days. Now with lots of glass for viewing the slopes, nice bathrooms and plenty of tables. It will get crowded on weekends at lunch time though. Serves the standard on slope food of most ski areas, but a nice treat when it is not... More

We had lunch for four at Collin's Grill (3rd floor restaurant at Watson's Shelter) and made simple orders... 3 salads entrees and one salmon. It took 45 minutes for the food to be served (and to have our water refilled) and then when we were finished, we had to ask for the check two times, and the waiter still did... More

American ski resorts not known for ambience of their on hill restaurants but the staff are super friendly and the food wholesome and reasonably priced.

Baldy Brew's (coffee shop) offers high quality espresso/ coffee roasted weekly by Salt Lake Roasting company. Possibly the best coffee you will have in the Salt... More

The best place to eat on the mountain in Alta. There is a fancy restaurant, a casual mountain style cafeteria and a yummy espresso/chocolate bar. Be prepared for mountain prices though.
