This is the best hot pot in Northern Virginia. Its unusual to have individual hot pots like they do, but its a great idea in case different people want different levels of spicy. Make it a point to try the skewers as an appetizer.

We have been to Mala Tang for dinner twice and enjoyed it. It's interesting. We went back last week during off hours--around 3:30pm and didn't have a good experience. There was only 1 server on staff who was generally helpful but rarely came by. There were 3 other tables that were full in the restaurant. The sauce bar, which is... More

Very good Sichuan cuisine! We most recently went with a large group and everything was great. I stick with a hot pot because they are excellent, but I've also sampled multiple noodle dishes (which were a bit on the saucy side), but overall delicious as well. They make each dish customizable so everyone gets what they want. There were also... More

We've enjoyed Sichuan food in HK and Taiwan, but this is the first restaurant with good Sichuan food we've found in the D.C. area. It's tucked in back of a George Mason U. building and was not easy to find. They have free parking in the evening in a lot across the street or the meters a couple of blocks... More

Located in an office building a little off the beaten path of Clarendon, is a gem of a Chinese restaurant. The interior is lovely, service very good and the good is delicious. The menu offers dishes ranging from commonly recognized Sichuan cuisine to the very unique. They also offer many "hot pot" options and a sauce table where you can... More

The staff were super nice, informative and efficient. my daughter wanted to go for her birthday to have a "hot pot." they gave her a candle on a piece of free cheesecake which I thought was a super nice touch that she appreciated. The dry pot was good and the staff explained to us "newbies" how to manage the hot... More

We get hot pot all over the place. Visiting DC we wanted to try some here. The meat, seafood and veggies were fresh and good. The broth has great flavor but the pot itself was very small compared to what we've had everywhere else. This is a problem because you can't cook more than two or 3 things at a... More

The restaurant is good ! the environment is clean and the service is really good. I think their hot pot is better than their Chinese dishes.

This is a different kind of a Chinese restaurant where one can cook themselves. A little stove is kept on the table and a choice of boiling broth placed on the top. One can then further add to the broth choice of their vegetables, starch, meat, seafood etc., A common table has a choice of sauces which can be added... More

Delicious and very authentic Chinese food with Hot Pot service. It was my boyfriend's first time eating at an authentic Chinese restaurant and he loved his Noodle dish and our appetizers, steamed buns and steamed dumplings. Everything I ate was awesome.

The new venue, located near the Arlington Campus of George Mason University (3434 Washington Boulevard; Virginia Square Metro), is a contemporary Chinese setting emulating Chef Liu’s native city of Chengdu – famous for its varieties of spicy street food and numerous hot pot eateries.
