WINE OF THE MONTH
Our Wine Club Member exclusive monthly wine release can be enjoyed at home or in our restaurants.
Garnacha
This is the perfect wine to end the summer. Harness the warmth of Spain’s eternal sunshine in every sip with Garnacha. Known outside the region as the Grenache grape, this wine unfurls like the kaleidoscopic soul of the Spanish people, a tapestry of lush red berries, subtle spices, and Mediterranean herbs. And, as the Spanish would, take your time. Let every sip bathe you in the rolling vineyards, rich history, and weightless spirit of Spain.

We ate here on New Year's Day so low staff may account for our experience - not sure. When we arrived at noon there was hardly anyone there so why was the kitchen so slow? The food took a very long time to arrive, so long that a one point a manager came over to tell us the food was on the way. Each course took way to long to arrive including dessert. Our main courses were under impressive. Hamburger served was not hot. Mashed potatoes on salmon lunch were barely warm. Asian pork (lunch size) was dry and came without any sauce. It was concerning that several of the dishes were not served hot or even very warm. The prices were high - all desserts are $8.99 including one we ordered - a deconstructed smores served in a small glass. Wine suggestion for the salmon, #50, tasted like sparkling Welch's grape juice. Server was friendly but another server walking saw we dropped our napkin, picked it up off the floor and put it on TOP of my plate while there was food still on it. Beautiful restaurant inside and I wanted to love it but it was disappointing and the luke warm temperature of several of the dishes was a real concern.

The restaurant is trying to cater to every taste, and to look like a winery at the same time, and is not doing a good job at either. For a restaurant at its price range, its wine selection is good, but it is underwhelming and uninspired for a winery. It tries to cater to every taste, but the waiter was hard-pressed to come up with a signature entree, rather pointing to nearly half the menu... Picking one of them, the food was well prepared, but not impressive either. Service is attentive and prompt.

Chris our server, good food and a nice gesture by management save this rating ! Hostesses need some training. After postponing our trip to Ocean City to celebrate our 44th Anniversary, we decided to chose a local business in Ashburn, Cooper’s Hawk where we have dined before (pre-pandemic). Located in the Belmont Chase Shopping Center where there is a Whole Foods. In keeping with CDC recommendations, I read that it’s one of the few but growing restaurants that allows you to book outside tables and after booking reached out to the restaurant requesting a shaded table if possible, with a fan (we had scouted the restaurant)/ Morgan Wims reached back out and indicated she would do what she could to help our request. We arrived promptly for our 6:30 pm reservation and even though you dine outside, you have to come inside . It is cool inside and its where the hostess table is so e went inside and shortly after were led to our table (BTW for customers who follow CDC guidelines to eat outside, it would be nice to have a station on the patio ). Here is where we were disappointed as the table, we were seated at was the hottest one w/o an umbrella, fan and had multiple flies on the table. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were told no. We then saw a table in the corner with shade and I asked a server if we could sit there and he said check with the front…who said sure (memo to management. When this situation occurs, let customers know another table will be ready in xxx minutes and we will gladly wait). WE then waited while Chris our server cleaned and we now had a shaded table. BTW we say multiple couples walk away from the table. Also, to others seating before 7:40 pm when the sun goes down, the servers have a device to adjust the tables under an umbrella. You have to ask. Now calmer, we ordered after Chris took a picture, mex shrimp and sausage flatbread. Both were excellent especially the shrimp which had lots of avocado. For main course my wife had the Maui shrimp and I had the grouper. My grouper was delicious with the special mashed potatoes and my wife enjoyed the shrimp, although she didn’t know they were fried. So I ate some of her shrimp and she enjoyed my grouper. We had 2 glass of Moscato and at the end of the meal Chris presented us with 2 glasses of Champagne complements of Cooper’s Hawk, which was a nice touch. Chris was a great server and those helping him with food were awesome. So what could have been a very unpleasant evening turned out to be very nice because we took the initiative to stake out a table (which the hostess could have done in the first place. Good mask guidelines were followed (we generally clean our cutlery and ask for paper napkins). If you have to use the restroom, remember to wear masks When you exit the restaurant, you can do directly down the stairs outside so do not have to exit through the front.

We had dinner here for the first time and the place was packed! So glad we had a reservation. The menu is very extensive and it takes a while to go through it all. We ended up ordering fried calamari (it was not dry as we expected but cooked sweet and sour style - it was okay but not what we really wanted), lobster and crab bisque (good and filling), tortilla soup (also good), a pasta dish, lettuce wraps, a tuna tartar appetizer and a seared tuna for dinner. The tuna dinner was $28 and the only difference with the appetizer was a ball of rice, so you are better off with the tuna tartar as its costs a lot less. Service was on the slow side. We also tried some of the coopers hawk wines and found them to be just okay.

Cooper’s Hawk is one of my favorite restaurants. While in town visiting family we decided to have a takeout lunch for my wife, daughter, and me. My wife ordered our meals by telephone and the food was ready by the time we arrived. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich, my wife had the short ribs, and my daughter the Risotto. All the meals were correct and hot. We enjoyed our meals and plan to continue patronizing Cooper’s Hawk whether it is dining in or carry out. I recommend you give them a chance. The restaurant serves American food and offers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free choices for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant accepts reservations and offers takeout orders. There are areas for private dining, outdoor seating, and it is wheelchair accessible. It offers a full bar and there is free Wi-Fi.

We ordered carryout from this location tonight (New Years Eve) as we wanted to support a local restaurant even though we couldn't celebrate as usual. I ordered at 2p for pick-up at 4pm as a courtesy, as I expected them to be busy. We've ordered carryout from here at least twice in recent weeks (we usually order from another location further away) and the food has been very good. Tonights meal was far from good. I ordered the Soy Ginger Atlantic Salmon (one of my favorite dishes). I asked that it be cooked well done even though it is recommended to be cooked medium. Medium usually causes me to become very sick. It was cooked at medium. My favorite side (Wasabi Mashed Potatoes) also comes with this dish. The wasabi was left out of the mashed potatoes. Lastly I ordered a separate full size wedge salad. I was given a half portion that usually comes with the soup and salad meal but charged full price. Of course none of this would have been apparent until we got home and sat down to eat. A serious drawback when it comes to ordering to go at high end restaurants. At the prices that are charged for food at this restaurant ($80.00 for 2 entrees & 2 salads) this type of stuff is just unacceptable. If the cook & food preparers are skipping things like this makes you wonder what safety protocols they may be skipping. I'm glad we decided to skip the dessert this time (no telling how that would have been) and I am even happier that I held off on joining the wine club. I'm sad to say that this restaurant will be marked off our list of go to restaurants. There are too many other options out there.

With the covid situation improving in the area, our group looked forward to venturing out for a nice dinner gathering. Cooper's Hawk was selected since one person was a member of their wine club. Unfortunately, upon seating we were told that there was a 2 hour limit for the table which put a damper on our desire for socialization with dinner. With no alternative, we accepted that and were watching the clock to comply. But BEFORE our time was up, the manager/bouncer appeared and told us it was time to leave. Very unfriendly and certainly not a dining experience worthy of the prices they charge. Overall, this puts Cooper's Hawk into the fast-food pub category given its loud, noisy atmosphere, over-priced average food and unwelcoming attitude. Even our wine club member was disappointed and agreed that it was not a good experience at all. The egg roll appetizers looked so gooey and the barramundi was a bit salty and dry.

The service was great, loved to food and atmosphere. Went at 8pm on a Saturday night and it was perfect! The manager, Matt checked in us several times, and our server, Brittney (sp?) was sweet and attentive. I got the burrata ravioli with short rib ragu - I think it was a special, but it was outstanding!! My friend got a flat bread and salad which was delicious, and the pretzel bread is delicious! My favorite wine was the Lux Meritage!! Can’t wait to go back

We made a late lunch reservation and arrived on time and were seated where we chose however the waitress was slow to take our order and our steaks were eventually delivered 45 minutes after we placed our order. The fillet mignon was overcooked, dry and missing any kind of deliciousness and the side dishes were very plain as well. One person (not the waitress) apologized for delay as she quickly passed by. What's interesting is that the place was not that busy at the time. Also, it seems like none of the kitchen staff really paid any attention to the quality of the dish served. Would I go there again? Maybe for a sandwich but for an expensive meal, probably not. The quality of the food and interaction with the staff was sorely lacking any care and courtesy.

We are wine club members. Notwithstanding COVID, we dined in for lunch. Tables were appropriately distanced and we even heard them honor a request to move elsewhere when apparently another diner wanted to have “more” space. 2 in our group had the crusted scallops, 1 had the Prime sandwich, and I had the filet medallions. We were all quite pleased with our entrees. My medallions we perfectly cooked and exploded with flavor with every bite. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Coopers Hawk at Ashburn!

We moved from where we had a Cooper's Hawk less than one mile away to a place where the closest location is over an hour away. Then, we also had a pandemic. This particular visit helped provide our minds and our stomachs with the getting closer to "normal" feeling. We took friends for a wine tasting and a late lunch and they were so pleased that they joined the wine club also. It was a pleasant afternoon with good friends, food, and good service. The Mexican Drunken Shrimp were impressive as usual as the appetizer. Dana's chicken has been and will always be a favorite. One friend was very happy with the taste of the pork chop.

The service was impeccable, and food was tantalizing and memorable. The manager helped us pre-select a 4 course menu and everyone in our party enjoyed it. They were very generous with allowing us to try their wine menu. We each had a favorite. I took their wine of the month one home with us and we all joined the Wine of the month club. We had such a great time! We were there for hours and instead of kicking us out and closing, they let us stay and enjoy our cake and give our toasts. It’s a very intimate setting with amazing food, wine, and service. We will definitely be back; especially for special occasions.

Cooper’s Hawk is always one of our go to favorites especially the Ashburn location. This past Friday parking was difficult as the restaurant and wine bar was very crowded. We were seated in a small section off the main section. We quickly realized how lucky we were in our last visit with our server. This time Stephani had a few tables but we were shown to a table without cutlery, asked a few times for more napkins and finally a server (who were all great) brought some. No water refills…it was very average service except for the servers. The food itself was good. Pot stickers, drunken shrimp, bisque soup appetizers. Main course fish and chips and a churrasco steak that was good but very little vegetables served. Could have been more. Again servers great, food good, service average.

My husband, son and I visited for a wine tasting and dinner (my son's treat) back in August! We had a great time and Antoin was the best waiter! Food was good too. We came back in September as we are wine club members (highly recommend this) and we were going to ask for Antoin, but it always seems when we ask for a particular server we just don't get them (BTW, this is not just this restaurant). So as it turns out we weren't crazy about the table they were going to sit us at and requested another table away from the outdoors. Well, it just so happens that with the change of tables we had Antoin again!! YEAH!! Another great experience and another great meal.
