The red been dessert is actually really sweet, but the tea accompanying it neutralise it. Great view to the river.

Akafuku is certainly the most renowned snack in Ise, and all Japanese know its name. It is very simple and made with glutinous rice and red beans. In Akafuku Honten you can taste Akafuku just for $2. It is chapter than taking a cup of coffee.

They are open from 5 am, so visit early, before zillions of tourists rush in with huge sight seeing buses around midday. If you are lucky to visit there on the first day each month, they have limited-edition sweets besides their usual Akahuku-mochi. People make a line to buy them to go, unbelievably from more than one day before! But... More

Their specialty is red bean dessert (red bean paste covering mochi instead of the usual other way round) and red bean soup. It taste quite nice, not too sweet. Its half self serve, you order and pay, and get a number with your receipt, find a place at the partial indoor (the seat is heated) or outdoor area and your... More

Enjoyed the Japanese rice cake(mochi) with red beans!! The mochi was very soft and the red beans wasn't sweet than I expected. I bought the 2 mocha box for gifts. You can buy a bigger box but I liked the smallest one. Good to give to friends at work. You think you can't eat it but you when know we're... More

We got there at 7.30am in the morning and walked right in to have our red bean snack and tea set. Besides us was only a handful of other guest, which made the experience really pleasant and "uncrowded". We got the full attention of the staff there who were friendly and warm. Nice sipping hot tea on a cold morning... More

It's so gooooood! There's a separate line if you just want to buy boxed goods and the line moves super fast. I would buy more if I knew how good it was going to taste.

This is a well-known mochi shop in Ise. Prime corner location and packed with people. Their mochi is a variant of creamy-smooth red bean paste with three finger indentations encasing a rice cake center. Since it was crowded on the day we visited, we bought a couple of the already gift-packed boxes home as souvenir. The mochi is not overly... More

I recommend not only buying these sweets made of rice but also have them there with a cup of tea. The place is very nice to have a break and relax. It's also quite cheap, 280 yens (about 2 euros something depending on the change) for 3 pieces and a cup of tea. As I said, it's a must
