I was able to make an online reservation just me at Oro on Friday night. The restaurant is small I got the last table available and they placed me facing the kitchen. Super cool watching the chefs. Let’s start with service: exceptional. Everyone with a...nice smile and eager to answer any questions about the food and wine. They all work in sync. Congratulations! The food was really deserving of the 2-star Michelin. Tasty, creative and beautifully presented. I had the Afetividade Menu with the wine pairing. I rarely do the pairing because I am concerned about the quality of wines. This time I was not disappointed. Rodrigo, the Connoisseur, is super knowledgeable. And Rodrigo and Otavio accommodated my desert wine request. In France, I would probably get “Desole, monsieur” from the Connoisseur. Before making the reservation, I was concerned because several reviews have mentioned that other Michelin star restaurants in Brazil do not deserve the star that get. Also over the years traveling to Brazil, I had some disappointing meals at famous chefs Roberta S. And Claude T. That was not the case at Oro. Finally, these were the servers I interacted most during my dinner: Vivian, Octavio and Rodrigo. Thanks for the outstanding service. I will come back next time in Rio.More

Overpriced. Restaurant needed a refresh with chipped paint. Food came out as if it was prepared ahead of time. Service uneven with multiple servers not knowing who had ordered what. We found

the food was very good, mostly the main courses and deserts, amazing. they were very nice to offer a cake with a sparkling firework for my wife’s birthday. what they need to pay attention to is at the details: they did not have wi-fi working...and for a foreigner that was an inconvenience. the bathrooms are not looking 5 stars. wine paring should come with a glass of wine for each dish, but it did not - wasn’t such an inconvenience but the price is high for the amount of wine servedMore

A visit to Rio is likely to lift anyone’s spirits given the superlative setting the city enjoys. So if you love food and wine it seems logical to go to a restaurant that is similarly uplifting. Oro fits the bill perfectly. Everything is superb -...food and wine utterly delicious (how refreshing to have a wine pairing with glasses topped up), service attentive, courteous and friendly. Also nice to have a taxi sorted for you when it’s time to go home. All in all a superlative evening of world class wining and dining.More

Restaurant bit shabby, shows wear and tear, needs refresh. Food delivery assembly line. Cost for two w/o white pairing $362 (incl. tax, 15% gratuity added, 3 glasses wine). Would not recommend.

This restaurant should be so much higher up the list on Tripadvisor, alas here it is languishing down for reasons which escape me. I lived in Rio for around 8 months and made a point of eating in all the Michelin Star restaurants (Lasai, Cipriani,...Mee & Oteque) my favourite, by a long way is ORO. The whole experience is just right. It is a very cool, smallish dining room and all the severs I have interacted with always spoke excellent English. I've always done the tasting menu with them and always been blown away, the same can't be said of some Michelin Star restaurants I have tried in Europe. The small snacking dishes to begin are a joy, and the wine pairing is the only wine pairing in any Michelin Star restaurant which you get to enjoy decent measures, in fact they top up your wine should you require. I was asked which of the snacks I really enjoyed then the waitress brought me a couple more of my favourites, what a terrific gesture - plenty wine and plenty snacks. Moving onto the main tasting dishes, I've always found them flavoured very well, presented beautifully and really quite inventive too. Desserts are delicious and overall the value for money is excellent when you consider that in Europe a 2 Michelin Starred restaurant would be significantly more expensive. Friends of mines were in Rio recently and I told them they MUST eat in ORO, all 4 of them went deeming as one of the best restaurants they've ever eaten in, I very much agree that ORO is not just one of the best in South America, it is one of the best in the world. If you only have time to go to one fine-dining establishment when you are in RdJ, make sure it is this one, the others are good (not Mee, was V disappointed) but ORO is another level with a lovely casual ambience. Cannot wait to return.More

Proper Michelin star experience. Half the price of the UK for top quality food. Tasting menu, didn’t wine pair but good recommendation from sommelier. Enjoyed chatting to head chef while seated at the pass.
