I will give very good mostly by the atmosphere and tradition of this place. The food is good but if you compare to newer options you have better choices.

A good and traditional simple in the city. A simple and friendly ambiance, friendly staff, cozy saloon. The food is good, but could be tastier. Good range of nice desserts. Simple wine list, some good drinks. Good experience as a whole! Could be cheaper, though!

I was at Guimas with my family. The place is quite retrô and makes us go into a journey back to another era. The service was great, staff very helpful and the dishes were delicious. We did not ask for desserts but the menu was tempting. It is a bit expensive, in my opinion, but it is worth the expense.... More

Back again with friends who, being very particular about their food and class of restaurants, required to be well served. And, once again we were very pleased with our chice of restaurants. First of all the drinks were superb, especially the "Bull-shot", but also the caipirinhas. Guimas specialises in steaks and meat dishes but the pastas, risottos and fish dishes... More

The place is awesome: very clean nice interior, professional high class service, descent prices. Their authentic Brazilian food is just phenomenal especially grilled shrimp and quinoa salad. Coffee is delicious as well. We burnt on a couple of lousy places around Rio, but this one is definitely worth of giving a shot.

I went to Guimas with my parents in law, who used to go there back in the 80s when at university and haven't been back for a long time! I wasn't expecting a lot from what looks like a fairly standard Brazilian bar/restaurant as you walk up. However, I was wrong! This is far from your typical Brazilian bar/grill where... More

The waiters are excellent, the people beautiful, the food is nice (somewhat pricy though). Been there a thousand times for the last 20 years and love it

Guimas is one of those restaurants that is never old fashion. Traditional with international cuisine but with a Brazilian touch that makes all the difference. It's not cheap, but you will find that it's a fair price considering the quality of the food and the ambiance. The staff is friendly and professional. The appetizers are a good choice if you... In Gavea, this is the best restaurant. Slightly expensive, it offers flawless traditional dishes and has a good meat selection. My filet mignon with pepper sauce was absolutely delicious and correctly cooked (malpasado, or "rare"). The well-off locals fill the quaint restaurant. The inside is over-airconditioned, but the terrace is great to soak in the local atmosphere. Service is friendly... More

Guimas is a very traditional little restaurant in Gavea. Sadly, it made the news recently as one of its owners was shot to death on the sidewalk when returning from the bank. It continues to offer its nice dishes and crayons for kids and grownups to draw on the paper towels. Bear in mind that the place is a bit... More
