unfortunately not the same. house style sausage now is an ok sausage with catchup sauce sprinkled with unflavored curry (the curry dry seasoning, not to be confused with curry dishes). bland batatas coradas and a so so kassler. the prices did change, but quality not the same as in its prime time- when I was a local some 30yrs ago...... Good food and beer, great environment and we had some special gifts in the end! Overall, one of the best experiences in Rio.

We stumbled upon this place as it seemed to be one of the few open on a Tuesday in Santa Teresa. The beers went down great after the walk up the hill. The service was excellent and the food was typical German. Not necessarily what we were expecting in Rio but filling and made for a fun night out.

During our first evening in Brazil we ended up at this restaurant while really looking for another place in Santa Teresa....It had started raining and we decided to just go in without even looking at the menu. Unfortunately, after 2 weeks in Brazil, I must say the meal we had at Adega do Pimenta, was the worst we experienced. We... More

Really only reviewing this place to make use of that title; but it was not good. German food can be bland and stodgy at the best of times and, as mentioned, this was the 'wurst of times. The service was poor and the waiter clearly didn't like the fact that we were English (although kudos for embracing the German motif... More

Only a small German restaurant but it served plenty of sausage dishes with ample potatoes and sauerkraut. The beer and wine were a reasonable price and the hosts provided quick, filling food. Not fine dining, but a good bet to feed a weary traveller!

In the heart of Santa Teresa, near some interesting shops. Small but with a fun, young vibe. Very meat and sausage oriented (German after all). Nice beers. Decent service, pretty cheap.

We went there for a Friday night with a large group of friends (we had made reservations just for us). The beer list was impressive and it was poured in the right glasses. For appetizers we had their assortment of liver wursts: excellent! Although you might need to have aquired that taste some time previous. Then came the fried sausage... More

We ended up here while looking for a different restaurant. They serve only german dishes. There were local people but also german visitors. We ordered a german speciality eisbein but we didn't liked it. We never had it before but we had the impression that it was fried. Staff was ok, nothing special. I would not recommend this place, only... More

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
