As a tourist, you wouldn’t go near this restaurant, functioning inside Rio de Janeiro’s principal wholesale fruit and vegetable market, CADEG. But, if you happen to be in the district of Benfica or São Cristovão don’t miss Barsa for a superb lunch. We met there with some friends, who had the Bruschettas Tradicionais while waiting for us, but they were... More

Inside CADEG (Rio's Municipal Market), Barsa is surely une of the best choices. It brings elegance to a otherwise rough environment. Wooden tables and the typical market noise makes a cozy atmosphere. The dishes are all very beautiful. Look to the tables around you and you will want to order the whole menu. But the taste unfortunately does not match... More

All in all: probably the best food option if you already are in CADEG. Not worth the trip if you are not visiting the mall. Located in a colorful mall, this is one of the many eateries to enjoy cod fish. It tends to be a bit pricier than other restaurants but cleaner, prettier too. Given the other patrons we... More

this restaurant is in the flower market, run by a guy who want who seems to want to do something different,it is not the normal brasilian fare, not cheap, but lots of it,not somewhere to go if you want a quiet romantic dinner for two, great fun if there is a crowd of you,we had one main dish between three of us the first... As a foreigner, I liked to go to see the Cadeg, one of the main market for fruits and vegetables in Rio, where you can really appreciate the life Carioca...without the tourists. It isn't Ipanema o Copacabana, actually the Cadeg is located in an area not so nice, where I assume no tourists go and to arrive there it takes... More

Barsa is located in Cadeg, a wholesale produce market in Benfica, a little way north of central Rio. If you are comfortable with the taxi ride, about R$25 from zona sul, it is worth it. This is not haute cuisine, but what they do, they do in an excellent manner. But the environment is wonderful. The market is winding down,... More

It's an overrated restaurant. It has nice food, but it is expensive for the service and atmosphere. You should not go to Cadeg just to eat in Barsa, but if you are already there and want a safe port, it is an option (Cadeg is a suppliers market that sells everything to hotels and restaurants). It is in a weird... More

Barsa is located at Cadeg , an market you can find all you need to cook at home and where most of restaurateurs goes to buy fresh ingredients for their menus. Barsa has an excellent food with portuguese influence and you still have nice live music on sunday (chorinho)

Food: Simply devine. The owner realised it is not the quantity and variety on the menu, it is the quality of what is on the menu. I have eaten here probably 10 times now, and every dish is superb. The duck, the lamb, the bacalhau, the beef, the rabbit (long time since I had such a good bugs bunny, takes... More
