The service is a bit spotty but mostly due to language barriers. The table isn't the most comfortable, but a good place to go to eat when in Bago.

OK, this place I have rated as "average", but you have to remember the context, in other words what are the alternatives and how much worse are they? The restaurant is clean and has reasonable toilets. The food was not memorable, but was reasonably priced. Given that there is nothing really to offer it competition en route from Yangon to... More

Hanthawaddy was a welcome stop in the middle of a busy tourist day in Bago. It is an old wooden house converted to a restaurant. The food was delicious and it was very relaxing eating outside at one of the few 1st floor balcony tables with a distant view of shwemadaw (and an electricity pylon!). Staff were helpful and friendly.... More

We ate really well at lunch. A good, and freshly prepared Burmese meal. It was served by attentive staff, and enjoyed by us all.

Price and Taste of food Good. One of the best restaurants in town. If you are looking for dinner then should stop by this one.

Delicious homemade spring rolls. Pad Thai was great. Thai green curry was authentic but a little spicy for western taste. Service was friendly. Total bill came to MMK 17k. Balcony with a view.

Provided you don't go into the buffet style part, reserved for tour buses etc, this is a good restaurant serving very acceptable Burmese dishes

Great food and on hot days an air-conditioned dining room upstairs make for a relaxing lunch on the trip through Sago to and from the golden rock.

Overpriced, only for foreigners, and generally soulless. That's what dozens of tour buses will do to a place.

We had several dishes family style. It was fine. Nothing special. Service was good. Happy room was ok.
