We ate here one night during our three day stay at the Thistle hotel. Like the Italian restaurant, it always seemed empty when we walked past. And the night we ate there was no exception. We were the only table in the whole place. So...really no ambience at all. Menu was quite varied and I liked the fact that you could order small, medium or large portions. But we found out these sizings were rather random. We were advised that a 'small' soup was enough for three or four people. Based on this, I ordered a 'small' main course, as did my son. Mine was pretty big but my son's dish was probably an average amount. However, his dish did not come with rice and we ordered a side dish or boiled rice (which was the only choice of rice available) and this was a meagre amount - maybe a small teacup. Our first server did not have enough English to explain what the dishes comprised of though the second one made a better attempt - it would be helpful if there was a bit of a description of the dishes in English on the menu. Service was good. However, not being very familiar with Chinese food, I made a bad choice - some kind of seafood noodle dish, which was rather slimy and not very appetizing. I cannot say if this was how it should be, but I really didn't like it. My son was satisfied with his seafood Vietnamese curry. The crab soup was ok - quite tasty and huge in quantity. As with 'Glass', there is a limited choice of wine (and it is expensive) and as we found out when we ordered a beer in the terrace cafe, they somehow have to send off to some remote part of the hotel for alcohol. My glass of wine arrived about 10 minutes after I had started eating. All in all, I preferred the Italian restaurant to the Chinese at the Thistle Hotel.More

We ordered black pepper beef and also a vegetable dish..loh hon chai. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of food served,in generous amount too. Really tasty and well cooked ,beef was soft,tender and well marinated , vegetable dish had a large mix of...various vegetables and mushrooms.Quality on par, if not even better than the best Chinese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur. Great chef ,wonderful culinary skills,and in Port Dickson of all places! Dishes served swiftly, efficiently,service from the young Indian girl, Mona was pleasant and friendly,ambience was truly soothing; the round marble tables and well constructed coffee shop styled chairs reminded us of old Malacca coffee shops of the past era;the subdued lighting together with a few antique looking Chinese furniture complemented the general serene setting. With rice,the bill for two came to rm.60...excellent value for money...Definately a 5 star restaurant or even better. RECOMMENDEDMore

I brought my wife to this so called 5 star hotel. Room is so dusty. Bath tub dirty. Bed shred is full of hair and stain. Their entire room furniture is so dusty. Duty manager just mentioned to wait another 45 minutes to 1 hour...for them to re- clean. Very bad experience and not recommended!!More

Mediocre food and it is expensive for the preparation. No vegetarian option. Nobody patronises this restaurant during my 2 day stay.

They provide a set menu which for me the price is very reasonable and the portion is satisfying too. A Muslim chinese food lovers who seeks for Halal food is very happy to know that their food is so delicious with a setting which is...great...overlooking the swimming pool. Having tired of trying to locate a decent restaurant offering a combination of decor, ambience and fare that would cheer us up on our first evening at Port Dickson, we finally found it here. Smiling service, very good Chinese dishes with occasional Nipponese sprinlings and...very reasonable prices made up for the disppointments of the previous hour. Tucked away into a corner of the spacious grounds, this was a happy find.More
