Along the waterfront at the end we came across the Harbour Bistro Cafe, good choice on the menu and I had the chicken rice which was delicious and the following evening had chicken wings which were also very tasty. Beers are by the can only,...staff are friendly and helpful. It’s on the waterfront so you will get some interesting smells from time to time and large furry things ( rodents) scurrying by- don’t let that put you off, the food is really good.More

Lovely setting on the waterfront. Friendly service and delicious prawn dish, serving enough for 2. We also ordered the white fish filet. Much smaller portion, but still very good. The bar b que sauce on the fish was ok, but even better mixing with the...prawn dish.More

Same as review for My Harbour as they are virtually the same restaurant. Was apprehensive about this restaurant given some reviews and the setting of the restauranr but there really is nothing to worry about. The food here is delicious, staff are friendly and the...amount of choice you get is next to none. Would highly recommend this restaurant for those travellers who can ignore the odd wiff of harbour smell and the odd stray cat and just enjoy the food. More

After arriving in Sandakan we walked along the front and gave it a miss as it didn’t look great or clean. After reading TA the next night we gave it a go and returned for our third and last night. The first night we ordered...lemon chicken a beef dish and the crab in an egg sauce. The chicken was fantastic and the crab was amazing , when you get to the bottom the smaller crabs had most is the meat and we’re so soft and tasty , I think it was 17 R , my wife s beef was average but sauce was tasty, with 4 tiger beers it came to £17 , what a bargain. Next night we had honey chicken , sweet and sour prawns which were fabulous and a prawn and pumpkin curry , probably should not of asked for spicy as it was very hot .again 4 beers for £17 . Negative , theirs cats about and a strange lady who begs and can put you off with some bad habits , I learned my lesson and sat with my back to her 😛. Positive s great seafood and cheap . Totally recommend .More

If you want to venture out of the Sheraton you have very few options if walking. This is the last in a row of similar-looking places. Amazingly reasonable prices for the quality. Service was friendly and western tourists welcome; my server told me not to...order an extra dish I just wanted to try because I already had enough. Note: the crabs are small and require a lot of picking, and the one in the spicy sambal also a mess to eat, but so totally worth it, and I know about crabs. Beer and even wine available. Recommend without hesitation as long as you don't mind the simple atmosphere.More

This ticked all our boxes when we visited: -reasonably priced -good quality -range of dishes -on the seafront -serves beer! We enjoyed our meal here. Portions are a very good size and meals are really reasonable priced. We ordered way that too much. Tip, ask...for recommendations!More

We ate here and we have to say it was an amazing surprise. The place is not fancy or pretty but it is clean, the stuff are friendly, the food is amazing and the prices are great. We had a very spicy and delicious tomyum...with crab and fish, it was just perfection! We also had the butter crab which was very good, but not very easy to eat (would not recommend for picky eaters). Thanks for everything and keep it up!More

We were a large group of 8 people. Every person loved their meal and we all ordered different menu items. The staff were attentive and welcoming. One of my favorite dining experiences in Borneo.

Ate here twice coming in and out of sandakan. Cleanest looking kitchen of the waterfront cafes by far. Food all cooked fresh. Second time we even risked the crabs (6 swimmer crabs in huge amounts of garlic etc) and sweet and sour prawns ans they...were fresh and delicious. With a large bottle of water only came to 35MYR! Huge menu for all tastes and all excellent.More

After using TA & reading the reviews we opted for the Harbour Bistro Cafe & after a bit of a wander round the houses trying to get to the waterfront (first night, no bearings, set off in the general direction & hope for the best...is our usual method...the scenic route) we found it (last place to eat on the right). There were initially no tables right by the water but we were asked if we'd like to move once one became free, & we did. There was a great choice on the menu & plenty for my veggie husband & "not very adventurous when it comes to food" daughter. The staff were lovely & the food came out really quickly. The portions were spot on for us & it was all really tasty. Couple of beers each for Mum & Dad, sat watching the waves & all for the equivalent of about £22. Well worth a visit.More
