We stayed at the perhentians for several days and did had breakfast and diner at Mama’s. The team is berry hard working family and serve good food for a fair price. Especially the fresh sea food is great! The coffee is best we had during...our trip though Malysia (better than Starbucks ☺️). Also free wifi. Thank you guys!More
Love the drink here and also breakfast. Coffee lover can order espresso, a real one. I love breakfast here, some snack and noodles. If you look for something local and good price, here we are.
Local restaurant serving local & some western food. Open from breakfast until their last call for order @9.30pm. Value for money. Must try- Their Nasi goreng Thai, but request less spicy. - Nasi goreng Paprik -Mee goreng

This place is great! It has a very nice kampung feel. Staff is really friendly. We had their maggi goreng, nasi goreng kerabu and coconut shakes. The sambal belacan is also very nice and spicy! It is located next to Barat Perhentian Resort and Muslim-friendly....The place does not serve alcohol which is okay for us since we do not drink.More
My friends & I agree that this is one of the best places to eat on Perhentian Besar! We love the Kerabu Fried Rice so, so much that we still think about it even after we have left the island! They kindly acceded to our...request for more spicy and no veg on some dishes. All the dishes were delicious. Sadly, we stay on the other side of Besar so we were not able to return for more. Highly recommend! Price-wise I feel it’s all the same across Perhentian but the meals here are definitely worth it! The staffs are friendly, too :)More
Food here was average for Malaysian standard, so it pulls down the rating of this restaurant. But the seafood BBQ was excellent. BBQ order came with rice, sauteed vege, cut fruits and dipping sauces. The sauces were delicious and went well with the BBQ seafood;...they had some spices which I assumed was a local recipe of the restaurant. I was impressed with the presentation and garnishing of the seafood BBQ as well. Squid was partially cut and it made eating much easier. Large prawns' shell was skillfully and partially removed as well. It was a really satisfying seafood BBQ dinner.More

It was the most frequently visited restaurant during our stay at Besar Island. Reasonable prices for teastful food. We were there only for lunch so do not about BBQ quality. My favourite was cocconut shake (and it is made from fresh cocconut with addition of...cocconut milk) and watermelon juice. We were trying only local dishes like fried rice, pattaya, tyoman soup or seafood in red sauce. Worth to visit this placeMore
I had a mango chicken curry ... That was delicious. The chicken fried rice of my girlfriend was also very good. The price is fair, comparing to other restaurants on the island. With less than MYR 20 you can eat.
The food here was pretty cheap and pretty nice as well. The BBQ is also nice and highly recommended.
Meals are about au$4-5 each main and are good. No alcohol sold here, walk next door to Barat to have beers. Good fresh bbq seafood at night time.
Fresh fish is BBQ'd every evening, it's done with less drama than the restaurant next door who make a real spectacle of it and as such attract more people, but don't be fooled Mama's fish is just as good. TOP TIP - look for the...Banana bread at the kiosk where you pay, it's the best! all in all the food is simple here but very good and the service is much better than next door. well worth a try.More
