Tuna Cafe has a varied selection of western and asian food in its menu. The asian food is most certainly better than the western style food. The portion sizes are good and worth the money. Dined here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For western-style food,...recommend the beef burger but not pasta dishes. I definitely did not fancy the crinkle-cut fries that accompany the sandwiches, burgers, and other western-style dishes. Suggest the restaurant use hand-cut fries or potato wedges instead to elevate the dishes. Their forte would be the asian style food, the yong chow fried rice and their assortment of side dishes paired with white rice are delicious. Their Tiramisu was disappointing. Drinks are excellent with refreshing fruit juices, smoothies, coffee, wine and cocktails. The dining atmosphere is relaxed with attentive waiters and waitresses. Didn't have to wait long to be served food. Great view of the beach and the ocean.More

I did not stay here when I visit Perhentian Besar, but I came here every night when I was there for the stable wifi. The prices here are comparable to Kuala Lumpur (RM30 for a cocktail, RM15 for a fruit juice), but the service and...taste are exceptional. As busy as the servers are, they are very accommodating to our requests and friendly too! Try the Tropicana and Passionate fruit juices, it's what you need after a long day out in the sun. I do wish they change to metal straws/ bamboo straws too, but it seemed they took care of the trash quite well (I walked around the resort and it seemed they really make the effort to maintain the cleanliness of the place). Guests of the resort are able to fill up their water bottle at a 24 hour water station, reducing the use of plastic bottles! If I were to be back, I'll consider Tuna Bay as my place to stay when I'm here.More

We spend in beautifull Perhentians about 10 days and most of them we ate at Tuna bay, so we taste almost whole menu:) lets say that they serve good quality food for bit higher prices with great servise. For higher costs, I would expect more...innovative cousine with more local approach. But for sure, view at sun set time is just awesome thereMore

I enjoyed going to eat here, its shoes off at the foot of the stairs wash your feet and walk in. I'm not sure what anyone should expect after that haha. The staff are all fairly relaxed you have time and they dont get in...the way of that, I liked the vibe. If I needed a beer I just got up and went to the bar, all of the food needs were catered for and the meals generally were really good for the money. Particularly enjoyed the morning cooks, they were clearly as tired as I was in the mornings and our mutual foggy eyes and big grins made for a good start to the day as they helped me decide what they should cook in my omelette. Its a casual place be on holiday leave the phone and iPads in the room and embrace the slow speed.More

We had a wonderful stay at Tuna Bay Resort. 1 min walk from chalet to beach, clear water for snorkelling with plenty of fishes and even some corals, easy ferry transfer from Besut and back, friendly and helpful staff (special mention to Nurul, Jimmy and...Yin), good food at the restaurant. Once we had very delicious mini apple strudels for breakfast. I've read from some reviews that the food is expensive but it all depends on what you order. Local food are reasonably priced and Tiger beers are Rm 10 each. Generally, food on Perhentian Islands are more expensive than mainland. The rooms are basic but spacious and clean. No kettle or fridge but there is a safe. You get 2 bottles of mineral water everyday which we declined as we simply topped up our water bottles at the refill station in the restaurant. Water pressure in shower is quite low but the water heater comes with a pump which helps. You need to lower the showerhead from its holder to waist level in order for the pump to kick in. Unfortunately the walls of the rooms are very thin and you can hear sounds from next room easily. If you are an early sleeper, you will be disturbed for sure, especially if next door is a family with young noisy children who talk loudly and kept knocking on the room wall late at night! The resort do need more sun loungers and repair the ones that are broken. Also a sign that says only for hotel guests use. I hope the management can look into it. All in all, the resort is well maintained and clean. We had a great time and will be back again for sure!More

We had a good time at tuna bay (7 nights) but thought the price was not worth the quality of the stay. Good: *Great location, beautiful beach with white sand *Food at the restaurant was good (local cuisine at least) *Quiet in the evening Bad:...*Staff at restaurant and bar not friendly at all if not rude. *Room was located near technical facilities, which is not the island view you would expect. Turned out to be smelly and noisy *We stayed 1 night at Abdul’s and our room was surprisingly the same for half the price. We do however recommend diving at universal divers (next to tuna). Very professional and friendly.More

Nice hotel at the beach! The rooms are a bit small and the standard is just ok. But we liked our stay and will recommened this hotel. The snorkeling is awesome! Nice just a couple of meters out from the beach.

I like this place. OK, it's expensive to eat in the restaurant compared to other places but the food is good, the service fast and the staff are friendly and very helpful. We are staying in one of tbeir beachfront chalets about 50 metres from...the restaurant. It's clean, has AC and is more than adequate. The bill includes buffet breakfast and ALL transport (taxi plus boat ) from/to Kota Bharu airport. Buffet breakfast is all-you-can-eat and includes western and Asian food ... both hot and coldMore
