This place is crawling at peak hours with refugees from the nearby hyper-expensive Taaras resort. When it's packed, you will have to wait a little while for your food.
The local menu is fine and most Malaysians will have no serious issues with the food....It's slightly pricier (but not by much) compared to the mainland. Seafood is fresh. The tastes of Malaysian staples like mee goreng and rice dishes is on par with what you'd expect. (In some cases, it's pretty good.) Some veggie dishes could do with some extra flavour but you can request that.
The staff may seem "less warm" to Westerners due to lack of English proficiency but just smile, be patient, and be clear about what you want. There are western food options on the menu but I can't comment as we didn't try any.
Overall, 3.7 stars (yes, 3.7) and a real lifeline for those who aren't impressed with Taaras F&B quality & prices. I thought it was a bit better than Hazeme down the road, but you can try them as well if you want more variety over 4-5 days.More
Lovely local Thai foods dinner nearby the hotels, with some lovely hot Tomyam seafoods mixed, telur dada, Cabbage with mixed vegetables stir fried, deep fried dazzling squids, their famous speciality ikan Bakar with Sambal spread, simply awesome and fantastic , spending a lovely wonderful evening...dinner 😋😋😋More
No brainer to patronize thid restaurant if you are staying nearby. As most restaurant charge a high price, this one is not as high and had awesome fried rice. The chef is acceptably skilled. So ok, i stayed at de rimba for 2 nights and...had dinner here both nightsMore
Love this place so much. Price is really reasonable. They also take reservations. Very helpful and service are really fast. Very convenient for those who are staying at Taaras to have a local food. The food are tasty! Thanks Aima!
The restaurant is located just outside the Taaras resort and provides a very good alternative to the overpriced and terrible food offered by the resort - it is worthy to try beside helping local businesses to sustain as well - We had grilled fish and...squid, both very good, local fried rice with salted fish, soup and noodles, drinks (you cannot drink alcohol here), total bill 80mr - at the end we were satisfied and did not complain for the bill (ice lemon tea 3.5mr vs resort 17mr!!)More
We wanted to try Aima, because the food at Taraas is very overpriced for the far below average quality.
The food at Aima wasn't anything spectacular. Quite oily and salty I must say. We ordered the noodles, kailan, kangkung, omelette, sotong and a soup. With...regards to the service, the employees gave off this "we absolutely despise foreigners" vibe. They threw the menus on our table without greeting us. When asking for a spoon, their eyes were bugged out like a popeyed mule. As if we were asking for unreasonably much.
Too bad there aren't many other alternatives on the island.More
Located just right outside d entrance of Taaras. Serves overpriced local food & drinks. Not suitable for my family as we find it too greasy & sweet despite telling them less oil & sugar. We had fried bee hoon, grill chicken wings & black pepper...chicken chop w rice. All dishes very greasy & sweet.
Many guests dine here simply cos food at Taaras is even pricer.
Have not found other good alternative restaurants.More
