Located right outside the Taaras, this is a typical Malaysian restaurant characterized by extreme simplicity (tables only clean, not set, paper towels you take them yourself) but also by the usual exquisite availability and courtesy of the locals. You eat more than discreetly choosing from a wide menu (also with Italian version!) from fish to meat, to amazing fruit cocktails. Always served with courtesy and with an inevitable smile. Malaysian prices, therefore very affordable for us Europeans.
We also ate excellent grilled Grouper, available when fishermen pass here at the end of the day with fresh catch.
We preferred to dine here every night rather than at Taaras...some nights it felt like being in Italy.
Thanks to the very kind owner

Despite having originally paid for dinner at Taras throughout our stay we had dinner at this local restaurant just outside the Resort. Clearly we did not expect 5 star service or anything but we were absolutely positively amazed at the very good food and especially the cost. They’re a bit slow it’s true but being on holiday it’s fine anyway. Very good fruit at the end of the meal. We absolutely recommend it.

Fantastic local cuisine at amazing prices. Staff are so so lovely. We stayed at the Taraas resort but didn't want to pay their over priced rates for dinner so we walked to Aima's every evening which is just outside the resort entrance. Service was fast and the range of dishes and drinks was wide and varied. My daughter and I had dinner here every night for the equivalent of less than £5 each. Would highly recommend.

Customer service there is always great - always friendly and smiling. Service can be a tad slow if there are a few tables. However there is an option to preorder for a specific time.
They have great tiger prawns which we got plain grilled and another time fried in batter. Plain grilled was better. Popcorn chicken a hit and miss as sometimes you get a bit more and is crispier. Same with the kalamari.
Local food is alright and price is more or less the same as the other restaurants on the island. We have been there almost on a daily basis - the staff there are really friendly and helpful. We had fried noodles, koay teow and also then kailan.
My kids were big fans of the iced Milo.
Would recommend.

We went to this restaurant driven by the reviews that seemed good... but honestly it doesn't deserve to go to this place. I would never recommend it to a friend! Bad service, they bring a plate every 10 minutes, the orders are wrong, the desire to adapt is there, but the hygiene is just not there. The noodles were the ugliest I have ever eaten, the fries horrible, the “average” grilled shrimp, they were small, too hard, overcooked and tasteless... plus we ate less and paid twice as much as other nights.

This place is crawling at peak hours with refugees from the nearby hyper-expensive Taaras resort. When it's packed, you will have to wait a little while for your food.
The local menu is fine and most Malaysians will have no serious issues with the food. It's slightly pricier (but not by much) compared to the mainland. Seafood is fresh. The tastes of Malaysian staples like mee goreng and rice dishes is on par with what you'd expect. (In some cases, it's pretty good.) Some veggie dishes could do with some extra flavour but you can request that.
The staff may seem "less warm" to Westerners due to lack of English proficiency but just smile, be patient, and be clear about what you want. There are western food options on the menu but I can't comment as we didn't try any.
Overall, 3.7 stars (yes, 3.7) and a real lifeline for those who aren't impressed with Taaras F&B quality & prices. I thought it was a bit better than Hazeme down the road, but you can try them as well if you want more variety over 4-5 days.

Dined here for dinner about 3 times. Love that it’s conveniently located outside the gates of Taaras resort. We enjoyed the steam fish with ginger & especially the Grilled fish with sambal sauce. The salted egg calamari was also good. Veggies were nicely cooked. Simple delicious food. Although please bring insect spray as there were plenty of mosquitoes

I stayed several nights for dinner at this restaurant with friends on holiday in Redang.
Cute, unpretentious, minimal, but the food all good, from risotto to fried fish, grilled fish.
All seasoned with a simple but genuine welcome.
A way to get to know Malaysian grnte and cuisine
You just have to accept a little negative initial impression
Also recommended for absolutely reasonable prices.
Thank you.

No brainer to patronize thid restaurant if you are staying nearby. As most restaurant charge a high price, this one is not as high and had awesome fried rice. The chef is acceptably skilled. So ok, i stayed at de rimba for 2 nights and had dinner here both nights

Super bad service. Had to wait an hour for our food. Staffs are very unfriendly and doesn’t even bother to check on orders. This will be my first and last visit to this restaurant.
