After our descent from Machu Picchu and a short walking tour of Aguas Calientes, we stopped at La Retama for lunch. We dinned outside and had a good view of foot traffic going down the train tracks, the Peruvian hounds and city life. We ordered some of the locally named dishes Machu Picchu pizza (ham and cheese), stuffed avocado, and... More

Gimmicky restaurant with "typical dishes" on their menu - oven baked cuy (guinea pig), grilled alpaca steak, pisco sour, etc. We tried it all, just to get a feel for it. The food was awful. The alpaca steak was lukewarm and totally overcooked. The cuy wasn't terrible, but it was very little meat and very boney. The sides were cold... More

This place caught our attention while we were at another restaurant waiting for our food and we thought "darn! why didn't we see it earlier!" -- so we decided to come have a snack here. This place was OK - I gave the 3 stars because the coffee was good. I asked for cream to put in my coffee which... More

There are SO many restaurants in Aguas Callientes & after spending a while wandering around & reading menus we decided that this one was the best of the lot! The menu was large & comprised local specialities with pasta & pizza. We all chose the local trout, which was served in many different ways, & we went for plain grilled.... More

We should have returned every plate on the table, ordered avocado salad (saggy and blend), jocopa (returned it), Chupe de Trucha (trout soup)...really disgusting! Owner was there and didn't even apologize for the poor quality and service. OVERPRICED as hell! (usd 60 per person) Make no mistake about that the restaurant doesn't expect the returning customer, the goal is to... More

Very nice, well meaning, non-English speaking staff. Staff went of of their way but food was average. Nice river views.

This is on a very busy street, with numerous restaurants. Menu placed outside and very attentive staff who were not at all pushy. We got a nice window seat and enjoyed a super ceviche. Wine was reasonably priced by the glass, as was the food overall. Recommended!

The food was good. Tourist prices are charged, and so quite expensive for Peru. Limited staff, and so service was liable to delay.

We got into this place because we wanted something fast so we can go to the hotel and get some rest. So it was the correct place. The service was fast. We order some vegetarian and hawaian Pizza. And avocado with chips as appetisers. The place is not big but i would recommend to sit outside. Is very good. The... More
