We went to celebrate the birthday of a family member. went for Jiaa and Bela. Some dishes were delicious while others were far too experimental for our pallet. Overall experience is a mixed bag. Service could be better, there has to be a feedback mechanism...on the different dishes. I loved Asparagus in coconut milk and drumstick lamb (part of Bella). it is a unique experience but there is still a lack of wow. Loved tomato rasam but bacon with ripe bananas..nope not for me.More

This restaurant provides a very unique dining experience. It offer four different set menus with each dish carefully crafted and presented. They are named 'Maya', 'Jiaa', 'Bela' and 'Anika'. The difference is the number of dishes served - they range from 7 to 13. The...only choices a diner has to make are to specify the name of the menu and whether one is a vegetarian or non-vegetarian and then leave it to them. The presentation of the food is outstanding and extraordinary. Each dish is designed and 'engineered' very differently and the sight tickles one's palate. A picture of the dessert that we got will explain this point. The taste of each dish is also exceptional.More

Fabulously delicious food let down by haphazard service. The food was exceptionally good but the service - which started off well - ended up being chaotic. Dishes were being brought out too quickly so that one course was brought out and the next course was...arriving before the first had even been half consumed. Our wine was initially served to us and then completely forgotten about. Our mango dessert course never even arrived but we were too weary by it all by then to ask for the missing course. It felt that when the maitre d’ was visible service worked well - but half way through the evening he did not seem to be in the restaurant and the service standard collapsed. Such a shame.More

Absolutely fabulous. The dinner was one of the best I had in the recent past and that by far. Very professional service. Only the wine by glass did not offer many opportunities

What a memorable experience - with top notch food, great wine and just a great overall time enjoying an incredible array of dishes. In Chennai for work and some colleagues and I had heard of the “Michelin star rated restaurant in the hotel that is...a ‘must do’”. Well, we did and we are all glad we did. Of the 7, 9, 11 or 13 course dish we chose the 9 course version. In hindsight MAYBE we should have done 11 but we all were appropriately full when we left, each with big smiles on our faces. If in Chennai and especially the ITC hotel, would strongly recommend you give it a try.More

A fabulous culinary experience in Avartana, ITC Grand Chola. Indian ingredients presented in never-imagined combinations and portions, every course an enhancement to the previous one. Beautiful surroundings, excellent presenters who lovingly presented each amazing dish with infinite care. Once in a lifetime experience. Not to...be missed at any cost. We had the Jio and the Maya menu. I for one was not quite convinced that the presentation and participation in this beautiful experience would span over 2.5 hours. Let us just say that the time went by so quickly I had to rub my eyes to ensure it was well over 2.5 hours. And not a second did we feel anything but the grandeur and the elegance of this magnum opus. The serving platters, the intricate presentation, the immaculately and richly dressed hosts catch your eye. The verbal description of the item before us is music to the ear. And finally the taste ... what a divine orchestra tingling the taste buds over and over again! Our host Allen was poised, dignified and enriched our experience in several ways. My sincere congratulations to ITC Grand Chola and the Avartana Chefs and staff, who have firmly established that there are absolutely delightful ways in which Indian food can be crafted and presented.More

I recently visited Avartana for the second time, and once again, I was blown away by the incredible food and impeccable service. Opting for the 13-course meal, our group of 11 savored each dish, making it a delightful experience that lasted a few hours. This place is very good. You need to book your table in advance . The ambience , decor and the soft spoken staff are appreciable. The staff suggested that we go in for a 9 course vegetarian meal. A lot of imagination, inventivness and originality...has been given importance to curate the menu. The drinks were very good specially the way it was served. Each dish was just bite size, the plates and dishes in which the portions were served were very thoughtfully chosen. Because the portions are very small , you don't feel stuffed, in fact we ordered two more exotic items and made it an eleven course dinner. Definetly go in for Fennel Panacotta for dessert. The presentation and taste was excellent. On the whole it was a beautiful experience dinning at Avartana.More
