Never say “never”…Our first visit to Nez Bistro didn’t go so well, but after 2 years, we decided to give the place another try and boy, what a difference! We absolutely loved the whole experience. The service was excellent, the food was perfect and the décor is romantic and charming. The owners are very friendly and the restaurant has some of the best background music. If I had to describe the dining experience, I’d say it was dark, sexy and seductive. I started with duck confit croquettes, which were delicious; my wife had the terrine de foie and the portion was so large that she had to take it to go (yes, she enjoyed it very much). For a main course we had gnocchi in ossobuco ragù (the gnocchi were tender and the ragù was excellent) and the duck breast, which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Nez Bistro is a member of the Associação dos Restaurantes da Boa Lembrança (“the Association of Good Memories”). Whenever possible, I try to visit their members because they are almost always high-quality establishments. I will definitely be back here the next chance I get.

"Don’t let appearances fool you”, the owner of this restaurant certainly understands that it’s picturesque environment is not all! A friend told me about this place and he specially remarked how great the service was, I think training their stuff is taken very seriously there because all waiters were very kind and ready to recommend the best no matter your taste. I have always loved ordering fine cheese as entrances, in this case, the blow torched Prima Donna Cheese just couldn’t go wrong, the cheesy taste combined with a crunchy crust was excellent. After such entrance, a deserving main plate had to up the level. The mouthwatering Duck Risotto was an excellent suggestion by the waiter, it was a killer for me, not dry or runny, just perfect creamy texture!! In order to leave with a smile on my face, sweets could not go missing. The Apple Pie just wonderfully concluded an amazing night. The northern region of Recife is well known for having the best restaurants in town, and Nez pushes the boundary even further. Perfect place for dinners and food lovers.

I was sooooo ready to like this place—but it wasn’t meant to be. This restaurant has been open here for more than 10 years & everybody seems to like it. This wasn’t my experience. First, the restaurant is WAY too dark—so dark in fact, that the waiters walk around with flash lights for the customers who can’t read the menu. Next, I waited 30 minutes before I could place a drink order. Not acceptable. I asked for the wine menu & I was given the kid’s version (wines by the glass); I had to wait about 10 minutes before I could wrestle a waiter to give me a wine menu by the bottle. When it did show up at my table, it turned out to be the most confusing wine menu I’ve ever encountered. I know wines, but I don’t know what this wine menu was trying to accomplish, besides confusing the customers, but it didn’t work. The first 3 pages talked about terroir, food and grape varieties (like a wine course); then the wines were separated by what they paired with (rather than simply by white/red/region like 99.5% of restaurants). The menu had some other categorization of the wines by body & fruitiness which I still don’t understand (see the pictures). Now the food: on a sliding scale from disappointing to the worst I’ve ever had, they covered the gamut. Our appetizer was interesting—deep-fried balls of duck confit, which were delicious, but for some reason were served in a box of rock salt & in a paper bag (like English fish & chips). My main course was the absolute biggest disappointment. “Nhoque de Brunelas” is a gnocchi dish (Brazilians spell gnocchi as “nhoque”) with pesto AND cream sauce and shrimps. The shrimps were large and cooked perfectly, but SO salty as to be inedible; the pesto was completely without flavor as were the gnocchi and the cream sauce (which was floury and gritty). This was the first time I’ve ever left a plate with shrimp and gnocchi uneaten. This was probably the worst gnocchi dish I’ve ever had. I have to say that even though this restaurant seems to be popular, I can’t say why; I can say that I’d never eat here again, even for free. I also couldn’t recommend this restaurant for any reason.

I visited Nez Bistro with my fiancee to have dinner. She is vegetarian and they have an entire page of the menu dedicated to Vegan People. I ate a Robalo with Banana da Terra Ravioli. The meal was amazing, the atmosphere is so good for couples and we ate a Nutella Petit Gateau to finish. The dessert was amazing too.

This is the perfect place to date, enjoy the food and drink and relax. There are a lot of options in wine menu but unfortunately there aren't any beer, if you like to drink a good beer at dinner go to somewhere else, you have to drink wine or water (or soda, but I don't like it). All options in menu have a suggestion of wine to combine, it's great. Don't hurry, enjoy every bite.

Excellent restaurant!! Good "Carte des vins" and service, with a few shortcomings. Waiters need more training on how to serve in a restaurant like that!! Excellent food!

This is a restaurant befitting France's best. What a fabulous experience. The owners family were eating at the adjacent table. No one spoke English but they made the effort google translate saved the day. Brian

Ate there while in town for the holidays with a family friend. It was a Wednesday evening around 9pm and it was fairly crowded, though the area upstairs was less so. First, the building itself has a lot of character and simply arriving makes you excited about eating there (particularly given the number one TA rating). The crowd was definitely upscale, suggesting it is the "it" place in town to be seen. There is definitely a wine focus for this restaurant (Nez means "nose" in French), with bottles lining the walls. I was not overly impressed with the diversity of wine, but we found a good bottle to enjoy. We shared the bacalhau appetizer, which was better than I have had in the past. I had the filet au poivre entree, which was much different than I am used to in the US - not spicy at all and fairly sweet, almost like American barbecue sauce. It was good, but the meat was not as soft as I would have hoped for in a filet mignon. We shared the apple pie dessert and it was delicious. The service was just ok - nothing wrong really, just that our server was not as present as I would have liked him to be. Overall I would definitely go back, but I would try a different entree.

My girlfriend and I visited Nez Bistro, and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is intimate, cozy, and inviting..perfect for a romantic dinner. The appetizers are great, and my steak was top notch. The service was warm and friendly. I liked everything about this restaurant. I can't wait to eat there again and will make it a tradition every time I visit Recife.

Always a wonderful experience and impecable service, the waiters are very polite and know what they are doing . I ordered "Terrine de Foie with wild berries jam and toast" as an entree I higly recommend it! "Mignon au poivre" with an Aquitania Cabernet Souvignon for the main course. For dessert Creme Brûllé D'Orleans. The atmosphere is quiet, cosy, good music, the decoration is Art Deco, with beautiful mirrors, paintings and chandeliers. The price is good, and what I liked most was the whole experience, food, wine, ambience and price. I am looking foward to go back.

It is a cosy little restaurant of international cuisine, mostly French. Some years ago we went more frequently but lately it lost its initial quality, it is overpriced. Still, it is quiet place, the food is ok (nothing that impressed me), but the service, as in most place in Recife, is very limited. My wife complained of cold, but the advice for most restaurant in Recife is to be winter dressed.

Enjoyed a good dinner with a group of 12 people at this restaurant. A pleasant experience in a cosy atmosphere. The challenge of serving our larger group was well managed. Count about 40 USD per person, including wine and desert.
