Siew Tin's Nyonya Kitchen delivers a good first impression, very bright and clean interior, set in the traditional Nyonya-style house (like in the Ghost Bride drama on Netflix). Was a bit surprised at the price of the food, but at the time, no other Nyonya food place in Jonker Street open in the evening, and of course, the owner has to make a living while renting in Jonker.
Recommended dishes: Gula melaka fried chicken (RM30 for 6 people). Crispy and well served with sticky black gula melaka and coconut flakes!
Tofu with sambal: nice egg tofu dish, wish it was bigger haha
Asam pedas fish tail: Fresh fish, big enough for 6 of us to eat, with bendi
Other dishes: Chap chye was alright, could give it a miss. The lovely waitress gave us pai tee for appetizers (very traditional food, hard to find) and sago gula melaka dessert
Overall: The location and ambience is excellent, but the management should capitalize on it by having a few more delicious signature dishes like the Gula melaka fried chicken and asam pedas fish, and perhaps slightly larger portions for rice and vege dishes (to cater for the ravenous young people). It's as pricey as most Nyonya food, so don't let that deter you.

We visited for lunch as part of a tour group of >100 people, so the place was packed with our tables. As soon as we sat down, dishes started arriving, plunked down on the table with little explanation. We dug in and started passing the platters and bowls, and we found most of the dishes quite tasty, even though at times we didn't know exactly what we were eating. None of the dishes offered were too hot or spicy to scare off any of us. A translated menu would have been nice! The only napkins offered were tissue thin and scanty, but this seemed typical of other Malaysian restaurants that we dined at.

Siew Tin was recommend by wife's friend.
Place is clean but foods were average and over price. Ordered rendang chicken, asam squid, pai tee and kangkung belacan. Other than squid (notfresh and cost myr 40), food is still acceptable. Total bill 104++.

Tasteless food (prawns with sweet S), rough service, even the green tea undrinkable, price double than the average in city for good food. Hard to believe. Hope this will help other tourists no to fall in the trap.

We went here as the restaurant nearby that we had come for was closed. Menu looked promising but food was very disappointing. Tamarind prawns were not fresh, way over cooked and tough, Belacan vegetables were oily and tasteless. Duck soup had a nice flavour, nice fermented vegetables but duck was tough and tasteless. Chicken Rendang curry was OK but lacked any depth of flavour and left a rancid after-taste. To be fair, portions are generous. Only we left a lot as we didn’t enjoy. Blue pea flower rice and tea were very nice. The grumpy waitress mixed up our order, brought an extra dish we hadn’t meant to order then argued when we tried to return it. We ended up taking it away for later but will probably throw it out because 2 hours after dinner we still have a rancid oil aftertaste and feel queasy. The worst thing is it cost more than a truly spectacular to-die-for meal we had the night before in a very fancy 5 star restaurant just around the corner (where government VIPs also had dinner, a foreign prime minister and entourage).
We have had great meals in all our week in Melaka, ranging from 15 to 60RM per person (mostly around 20RM per person). This was the first meal that was no good, and the most expensive by a big margin. Wasted money and wasted opportunity to enjoy another great meal elsewhere.

This is a one time thing. Not going back to Siew Ton's Restaurant again.
My husband and I happened to walk pass Siew Tin's Restaurant about 12 noon so dropped in for lunch. We ordered:
1 Prawns & pineapple Curry (R)
1 fried Brinjal (S)
1 Mutton Rendang (S)
1 Butterfly Pea rice
1 white rice
1 Buah Long Long drink
1 Soursop drink
Total : 166.20 RM
Very expensive and food so so only. And Service also lousy.
While we are having lunch outside , we can hear them like trying to break down their whole kitchen inside - that noisy.
Coffeeshop also not like that.

It was our first time and last time to visit and I would have given it a negative star if that exist.
There were 5 of us dining, ambious so so, and we agreed that the dishes are below expectation and totally tasteless. We are extremely disappointed and yet the price wasn't worth the taste and portion.
NOT RECOMMENDED to everyone that would like to try Nyonya cuisine, try somewhere else!

If you are, head over to this restaurant and order the Gula Melaka Chicken Wings. The dish was 6 pieces (regular serving) of drumette and wingette coated in sweet sticky non-spicy toasty desiccated coconut-gula melaka sauce. It was lip-smacking delicious. The restaurant also serves up the usual Nyonya fares. In addition to the chicken wings, we also had the Shrimp Omelette. The restaurant is located on a side street just off Jonker Night Market. Nice ambience, fast and friendly service. p/s: we were glad we did not come upon the reviews below prior to deciding to have our dinner at this restaurant, otherwise we would had missed out on the delicious gula melaka chicken wings.

I am from Peranakan & Nyonya descendance. Hence I have rather high expectations. Having said that - I have tried many Peranakan & Nyonya restaurants but this is one of the worst! We couldn’t even finish 1/4 of the food. Definitely other restaurants to explore...

We were recommended this restaurant by our guide in Singapore. We weren’t disappointed by the food at all.
I think it maybe a family run restaurant and I have to say, they weren’t overly welcoming. We would have walked by had we not been recommended. So pleased we ate there.

Very nice old house converted into a restaurant. Tried their Ayam Buah Keluak and Sambal Prawn, both of which were very good. Their Chendol is also really good.

Food was good, so we decided to make reservation for next day dinner but rejected bluntly by the red-haired lady boss. The staff were friendly and polite but not the boss.

The Chap Chye detailed having mushrooms which were not in the dish. I asked why and was told that the restaurant didn't put mushrooms in the Chap Chye anymore. I asked why then did the Menu detail that mushrooms were included? The restaurant replaced the dish with another mixed vegetable dish. Then we found a hair in the salad leaves of the prawn dish. We told the waiter and he said it must be one of our hairs. In the end, they didn't charge us for the food, but we insisted on paying for everything we had, food and drinks.

Everything was extremely bad!! The fish was cold, the devil curry was inedible. Even the kangkung belacan was tasteless. Never coming here again!!! Oh wait, only the complimentary food was good.

Enjoyed an evening out with my wife on holiday. We each had a set menu special and shared a jug of lime juice. It was tasty and authentic. And the sagu gula Melaka was the best we have tasted.
