Recommended by my boss for their authentic Shanghai food. Indeed, not a disappointment. I came here for 2 days in row. Definitely not a romantic place to celebrate Valentine's Day (haha, I was here to celebrate Valentine's Day). Service so-so but the foods counter it. Average about 50 yuan per person.

Hidden away off the main Road. Also called Shanghai Old Station Restaurant. Traditional style, but as with a lot of Chinese restaurants very little atmosphere. Food was very good, and staff extremely polite and helpful.

Nice place where once was the shanghai railway station. Chinese food , good quality, affordable prices. You order from an Ipad menu with pictures.

I was in Shanghai for two days and had 4 banquets. This was the best. The diversity of food ranged from the delicious to the adventurous and, in one case, alive. But it certainly felt authentic and the decor really evokes hey day Shanghai (or what is created in the movies at least). The staff are efficient and unobtrusive, letting... More

The food is great and easy to choose through pictures. Waiters are very helpful if you know chinese. They have a lot of trouble with english. Luckly I had a chinese with me so every dish suggested was delicious. Had a great time and hope to repeat it nexttime I'm there!

4 friends from Shanghai chose this restaurant to host my visit from Canada to Shanghai. Really the best meal I've had in my recent travels in China. I can't begin to name the dishes but the food was fresh and delicious and I especially liked the cold duck in sauce and a crisp salad with scallops with a balsamic vinaigrette.... More

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere; it's called ye old station because (surprise!) it was remodeled from a train station built by the French. You can even dine in one of the train cars (by request) which is really worth it because of how perfectly preserved they are. However, the food is completely at odds with the setting. Don't expect... This restaurant is redolent of the old China and Shanghai in particular. It is in its original state and has many souvenirs of its era displayed including the personal carriages of the last emperor and empress of China. I had lunch on last Monday in the Empresses personal dining carriage which was a superb collection of eel, pork, fish, crab... More

Staying in Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang

Neighbourhood Profile
Gubei / Hongqiao / Minhang
West of Shanghai’s better-known business, cultural and entertainment centers, lies an expansive area of residential neighborhoods peppered with lifestyle pockets that have their own unique attractions. The schools have formed pockets of international communities throughout Gubei, Hongqiao and Minhang. Quite a few entertainment and shopping centers have built up over the years to cater to these communities. While living here means you are relatively far away from Shanghai’s usual hot spots, the large parks, spacious homes and proximity to great Japanese and Korean food keep the neighborhoods popular.
