I am an Australian burger fiend - this is the best burger place in Shanghai. The beef is high quality Australian (tasmania) beef. Service is great, good beer selection, nice fries as well. Located right by the Ritz Carlton on West Nanjing road, its right in between two metro stops so pick whichever one you like or just get a... More

If you have enough local food, this is great alternative. I had Black Pepper Burger which was great!...if you like pepper of course. + Chili cheese fries! The place is just a few steps from Jing'an Temple subway station.

Went there last weekend. Best burgers in town with great beers. Just that restaurant is too small may get filled up fast on weekends.

Nice small diner with a small Menue but you will miss nothing on it. Pricing normal for Shanghai. Surely we will come again.

My girlfriend and me have been there the first time. We followed a friend's recommendation and it was absolutely worth it. Nice service personal, cool location and most important: Great food. I had the bacon-cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and my girlfriend had the normal cheeseburger with liberty fries. Both burgers were really juicy which we love!! Will definitely come... More

The duck confit Christmas special was OK, but the bun was much too large and actually greasy. Some of the fries were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, but probably half were soggy. The macaroni bites were under-seasoned. Service was good, but there were only two or three other tables occupied when we arrived. All in all,... More

That title might sound like an exaggeration, but from a Chicago guy that travels a lot and have had my share of burgers, it's not!!! The burger was cooked to perfection! Medium on the inside with a very nice grilled exterior. Juicy and well seasoned. After all, what other burger place has a 1 Star Michelin Rating. Sorry Five Guys,... More

Went there for dinner on a weekday. Service was prompt despite the place being very busy. It is a small restaurant for casual dining. Can be very noisy and the tables are quite close to one another so you basically can hear the full conversation of the guests at the next table. Good selections of burger. If you are craving... Description
Beef & Liberty is our modern homage to the original beefsteak clubs from 17th century London and, we hope, the tastiest hamburger you will have tried in a while.

We are obsessed with hamburgers. We have spent many years trying to create the perfect burger - one that is juicy, beefy, smoky and downright delicious. We think we have succeeded in our quest for perfection we are delighted to share our obsession with you.

We proudly serve hormone-free grass-fed beef. Our beef is from Hereford cattle which are naturally raised by small-scale farmers in the Cape Grim region of Tasmania, which has the cleanest air in the world. Why grass fed beef? Cows naturally eat grass, which produces leaner meat, high in Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. We freshly grind the beef in our burgers in-house daily and serve it on a custom-baked white sour-dough roll. Add friends and family, top it off with some great craft beers, house cocktails or a fresh Liberty lemonade and you've got our version of what a perfect hamburger experience should be.

Welcome to Beef & Liberty, we hope you enjoy it.

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
