Made the trek to find this place but some Chinese sign on the front and not open. Not sure if they are even open anymore. Sunday night where everything else seemed crowded.

Decent, very friendly, fast service, not pricy, nothing fancy but good quality, scallops were perfectly prepared, 200 m from the Westin Bund Hotel

Living in Westin Hotel just nearby and after business meetings the whole day long, we walked into this cosy, local restaurant for dinner. They have suprisingly excellant pizza and pasta with the taste like in Italy! We shared a antipasto platter together and ordered pizza with salmon as well as seafood spaghetti. Superior food and reasonable price! The best food experience... More

My girlfriend and myself were looking for an authentic European cuisine, the Gondola did not disappoint. We stumbled upon this little gem while wondering around the bund and the Nanjing pedestrian street. The food was superb! To my surprise the atmosphere was wonderfully quiet, very much like in Europe and a perfect short get-away from the megacity itself. The waiters... More

The food was tasty and fresh. The menu was smallish, but delicious. Good wine. Italian beer. Solid service. English speaking. In and out. Happy family.

Staying at the Westin Bund, I walked a few doors up the street and found this place. With no reservation, we walked in, got a seat at the window and had a fantastic meal. We ordered Risotto and Penne w/4 cheese which were great. The wine list is somewhat limited but still good. The service is great and the waiters... More

The service here was excellent as well as the food. The pizza was as good as in Italy ,thin crust and excellent taste. My friend had the pasta which he stated was very good. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The meal was inexpensive.

The Gondola was something I didn't expect. Within easy walking distance of my hotel, the Renaissance Yu Garden, I had no idea that there was a restaurant in Shanghai that had the intimate atmosphere, great service, excellent Italian music, and wonderful food. The steak that I ordered was the best I have had anywhere in China. White tablecloths, a good... More

Having travelled around China for 2 weeks I was hoping to find some decent Italian food in Shanghai, and this restaurant did not disappoint. The downstairs section is quite cosy, and for a Wednesday night was full. I had a Caesar salad for entree, and would have to say that was just OK. The lettuce seemed to be wilted, even... More

We were a bit excited to see this restaurant on our walk after arrival, and stopped by our first night in town. It was probably too early (about 6) but we were jetlagged and ready for some food. Our first four choices were not available, lasagne included, which seemed strange. What was available was passable Italian and better than average,... More

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
