The Brasserie is a wonderful area set in a area which in its heyday could have easily been a grand ballroom with oval ceilings with chandeliers and marbled floors. Adjoining the restaurant is a garden with water feature waterfall. Breakfast is a hearty buffet while lunch and dinner is a la carte.. Sunday is the famous buffet brunch. The staff... More

After 3 weeks in China and many luxury hotels, the Grand Brasserie breakfast buffet was truly the best. Everything from congee to croissants -- the buffet covers it all, including excellent coffee. We also had a set menu dinner one evening. The food was excellent, the service is a bit slow, but if you are not in a hurry, an... More

The Sunday brunch at Waldorf has always been on of the most exclusive ones in Shanghai, but on my last visit I noticed that staff attentiveness and service quality was really going down a lot. Had to continously ask for service or remind staff of orders. Even some tried hard, the overall impression is that Waldorf has really impressive hardware,... More

OMG, this should be a 5-star hotel? No, it is not, except for its high price and the historic building! The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai has become a big disappointment! Mainly because of bad management and lots of excuses on so called "trainees". Really? So, the "Trainees" are responsible for the 20 degree warm champaign throughout a whole Sunday brunch, the... The setting of this restaurant within the Waldorf Astoria is brilliant with an open ceiling overlooked by the balcony of the Peacock alley as well as Grand pillars. The food was good, nothing spectacular but decent. We enjoyed the sea bass dish as well as the burger dish. I am slightly annoyed that I can purchase a £20 burger meal... More

Amazing breakfast with unbelievable selections. World class wait staff. The Eggs Benedict are as tasty as I've ever experienced. You will want to linger over another cup of coffee and not be eager to leave this exceptional restaurant. Solid wine list for dinners.

Actually the Brasserie is also where the bkfst is served. Absolutely delicious bread an a non ending choice of Asian and European choices. Nice place for a business lunch, in my opinion the set-up and the size make it looks like a giant cafeteria (not cozy or intimate, nothing romantic on it). However as the name suggest it's a Brasserie,... More

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
