We visit Buttermilk Hill at least annually; however, we should visit more often. Kara is a gracious host and the restaurant feels like walking into a friend's house for dinner. We are vegetarian and she will always accommodate our requests for a vegetarian meal. You should definitely make a stop at Buttermilk Hill if it is on your path but... More

Have eaten here many many times. They have a real gift for soups. Today was a squash bisque with a sprinkling of nutmeg. It was perfect. For an entree I had the steak salad. The steak was medium and cooked correctly. It is crusted with a mixture they sell in little bags of spice. Highly recommended. The salad is rich... More

This is a sweet, little restaurant with a beautiful menu. Being a vegetarian, I was a little intimidated by the "meaty" menu, but I had the salad and was very satisfied. The people I was with had steak, shrimp, and chicken, and everyone was very pleased.

The parking is adequate though a bit dark as night falls. The property is quaint, just like home. The cats and even a dog greeted our party as we proceeded to enter this transformed home to restaurant. We were professionally greeted. The atmosphere, the ambiance, are all enjoyable and make for a grand experience. The menu is varied. The lamb,... More

Husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We made a reservation, but during the time we were there, only 4 other tables were occupied. I heard the owner tell one couple that this was their slow season. This restaurant occupies on old house so it is long on charm. And the decibel level was low,... More

Since it was a weekday the restaurant was not busy. I ordered a salad with apples, slices of steak and Parmasan shavings. It was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent and the owner/chef came out to chat with us about our meal. My husband and I split a chocolate bread pudding that was wonderful. Unfortunately I have heard... More

What a wonderful meal this was! I had the NY strip which was perfectly cooked and very tender! The owner and cook came out to speak to us after the meal. I asked about the crispy dark coating on the outside of the steak. She would only say that it was a dry rub. It was fabulous!! My husband had... More

This restaurant is not your run of the mill lunch stop. It is over the top in every way. The food was delicious, service exceptional, and the atmosphere was cozy with a nice mix of the old and the new. I had a crab cake salad and my husband had the beef tenderloin. We were on vacation in the area,... More

We were finishing up a three day hiking and biking trip to Mt Cheaha and my husband had looked up Buttermilk Hill Restaurant and decided to head home through Sylacauga Ala. We got close to the end of lunch time but the chef introduced herself and we were seated. It seemed like such a cozy place. One of the older... More

This place is a well kept secret....but not any more! We found this restaurant listed on TripAdvisor and decided to try it out. WOW! The food was excellent, the service superb and the chef is most gracious. I had the red snapper with Parmesan risotto. It was the best meal I had in a long time. My husband tried the... More
