Great place for specialty sandwiches and drinks like a full-flavored Reuben or Muffuletta and delicious domestic and specialty beers. However, it is also a wonderful, safe place to bring your kids or grandchildren for a grill-cheese and soda. Eat in doors and enjoy the sights and sounds of a busy little business or outside and enjoy watching shoppers walking by... More

This place was very busy and glad we showed up early. Their beer selection is huge -- craft and I imported. Our sandwiches were well made and delicious. I will definitely be back.

I thought Diplomats pimento cheese was the best I'd ever had until I got a pimento cheese BLT... oh my gosh. My mouth is watering just talking about it... just divine. The warm toast melts the pimento cheese...

Long time customer of Diplomat. My favorite sandwich is the double deli. Delicious!!! On Fri and Sat gumbo is offered and it is very good. Good menu and good service. Been going there for over 20 years and will continue to do so for many years to come.

I only think Diplomat is ok. Tables are small,' chairs are uncomfortable and sandwiches are ok. Great wine and beer store and pretty good soup. If I am in the area I will go but, to me, it's not really special. No fountain soft drinks. No homemade bread. There is outside seating but it looks I to the parking lot... More

This is a great locally owned deli and shop. I've lived in Birmingham for several years and not even heard much about it. Pretty busy during lunch, but they got everyone in and out quickly. Looks like you can buy meats, breads, beer, wine, etc. Would definitely recommend. Great patio area if weather is nice.

I get fast service and the food is good. The many drinks there is cream soda which is good. I just love the chips too. The Outside deck is nice at night with the overhead lights.

This is a deli that has been around for quite sometime so for the most part, I already knew what to expect. However, this particular location was combined with selling spirits as well. Upon entering, I couldn't believe how slightly unattractive the interior was. The floor contained brown carpet that, from close observation was in dire need to be cleaned.... More

OK, if you like a big variety of beer, and you are a sandwich (cold) lover, this is not a bad place. However, I am fit neither of these categories, and so I can't recommend this place at all. Personally I am amazed that hey are still open...but I think if you like a cold beer and a cold sandwich... More
