On our first night in La Fortuna, tired after a long day of traveling, we were just looking for a convenient place to sit and enjoy a meal. Tierra Mia was excellent - the host had infinite patience for our horrible Spanish and graciously answered all questions we had about the menu. Our group had the sea bass, chicken, and a couple other entrees, and it was all delicious and reasonably priced. We were able to eat outside on their terrace and enjoy the fresh air, and their wifi access allowed us to sort out details for the rest of our stay in La Fortuna. Great experience overall.

My wife and I had an excellent meal. She had pork and I had beef, all cooked perfectly and with great local flavors. We had excellent service. It’s a small restaurant with a family feel where they take pride in what they serve. When we are back in La Fortuna we will definitely plan to go back. Awesome!

Being in the restaurant business, I've eaten at lots and lots of places. Tierra Mia is one of those places that stays in your head based on the emotional and physical experience of dining there. At the end of our meal the chefs came out to greet us and were genuinely interested in hearing how we enjoyed the meal.
Food was sooo good! Comforting, unique, perfectly executed. The chef owners are in the kitchen cooking and each dish is detailed beautifully. My family was traveling across Costa Rica so we ate one meal there. If we were staying in the area I would have eaten there everyday. Great food, great hospitality, great value! Thank you Chefs!

We just enjoyed a fabulous authentic home cooked Costa Rican meal at Tierra Mia. The snapper steamed in banana leaf, pork loin in blackberry sauce and chicken in honey ginger sauce were delicioso. Our server Tatiana and her co worker were extraordinarily attentive and helpful. If you want a slice of home during your travels visit Tierra Mia for a wonderful dining experience.

I've only been in Costa Rica once and so have not had the pleasure of home cooking, but it's hard to imagine it could be better than the food at Tierra Mia. It's lovingly prepared by a couple that knows what their doing. It was so good I went back two days in a row. On the second day, they asked why I was alone. I explained my wife was not feeling well and had stayed in the hotle. After I paid my bill, they gave me a big container of chicken soup to take to her. She said it was delicious, much better than the soup she had been served in a much more expensive restaurant the night before. Service was excellent too..

Our group of 4 were given the recommendation to try Tierra Mia for lunch from a clerk in a shop as the place that he would go for the best food in the city. We were not disappointed. We loved it so much that we returned 4 times during our 3 day stay in La Fortuna. One of our group is gluten sensitive and others are maily vegetarian. I started with the Casada Tipico, had Cerviche, and ended with the snapper steamed in a banana leaf. The service was friendy and very flexible. Food was always intestingly presented. We loved the chance to sit outdoors, under the cover (it was raining the entire visit). best restaurant we have found so far in Costa Rica.

Stopped here with my wife and 3 daughters ages 11, 15, 17 for lunch on the way through La Fortuna.
We all had something different from the menu and were all blown away by how delicious the food was. Yes we are traveling during this pandemic ( very carefully). We ate at the outside tables and the owners/cooks/servers were all wearing masks and asked us to wash our hands or use the sanitizer provided on each table when we came in.
Now to the good stuff. I had the traditional Costa Rican dish, a Casado. Mine was with chicken but you can choose... it was amazing. I have never had black beans and rice that was so good. The veggies were perfectly cooked and obviously fresh, the chicken was amazing. I had had a Casado in the city of San Jose but if this was a 10, which it was, then that one was a 2, very disappointing. My vegetarian wife had a veggie quesadilla she said was the best thing she has ever eaten.seriously, my very picky and near impossible to please kids also said that their meals were incredible. They ordered the sandwich Rustica, The sandwich with cheese, and the sopa con pescado y camarones. So the soup with fish and shrimp that my youngest ordered had the most perfectly balanced and tasty broth with a good amount of shrimp and fish. I tasted it and was blown away. 2 days later we drove back to eat here again and this time I got that soup, it was sooooo good. My wife repeated the veggie quesadillas and also got the green salad with chicken. The salad was fantastic. The kids repeated their previous orders except my youngest got the rustic sandwich this time. All the dishes were great, the presentations top notch, the service prompt, ( we were the only ones there though I do have to say), the servers were really nice. The menu is en Español and in English. One of our top eateries anywhere. Our best food experience in Costa Rica for sure.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local tour guide, we took her advice and were not disappointed. Our group of 10 ordered a large array of appetizers and entrees, every dish served was exceptional in taste and presentation. The service was excellent, the atmosphere very upbeat and friendly, we all concluded it was worth the visit and we would all eat here again

We loved the food and the wait staff who were so willing to engage in conversation with us (only one of our family spoke Spanish), teaching us some basic phrases. Even though there were other customers in the restaurant, the wait staff made us feel like we were their only concern. Their recommendations for the meal were spot on for all four of us, and after a long day of travel (air and road) everything hit the spot! I appreciated the beers that they suggested and the ceviche was by far the best we have ever had. The one regret is that we went there once during our stay in the area. If you are looking for a variety of good food, don't pass this place up! We have promised to get back there someday...

Super cute local restaurant with really amazing food and awesome staff and service! We ordered quite a few things and everything was divine. The red snapper was great and the chicken soup was also really good! They had a large selection of vegetarian options as well! The chef/ owner came out to check on us how our meal was and the entire staff was so helpful and so sweet. Would definitely recommend checking this restaurant out visiting!

Tierra Mia is just off the main street, and like many Costa Rican restaurants has charming, inviting and humble open air dining area.
The food is simply outstanding, both in taste and presentation. We had a fish dish wrapped in banana leaf and a steak, and both could have been served in high end restaurants in New York, Paris or London.
The staff was very professional but friendly, and the chef was glad to meet with us!
Our entire meal including drinks was a bargain, probably would have cost 5 times more for the same quality food / cooking in the US / Canada or Europe. Definitely make the trip from your hotel to downtown La Fortuna for this place!

We found the menu suitable for vegetarians and they also try to make dishes vegetarian by replacing meat substitutes. The ambience is great, frequent cleaning and helpful staff all make it a pleasant experience. compared to other places nearby visited by tourists, this turned out to be cheaper and faster.

We’ve been in Costa Rica for one month now and this is the best meal we’ve had. The menu had an amazing variety of options and everything we ordered (apps, salads, meals, kids meals and drinks) were delicious. This was the first restaurant where everyone cleaned their plate. The service was impeccable and unlike most Costa Rican restaurants where you must wait to order, receive your food, etc. This is a must visit if in the Arenal/Fortuna area.

We had a great server, Juan, who gave good advice about what to order off the menu and was extremely responsive. The food was really good! Properly seasoned and nicely portioned. My wife had the Tierra Mia salad (loved it) and the veggie quesadilla. I had a steak with a chimichurri sauce that was to die for.

Such delicious food! We got tropical chicken, soup, chirasco (not sure of the spelling) steak, and drinks and we were SO pleased. Our waitress was so kind and helpful while we ordered and asked questions. Great authentic vibe with yummy food!
