I arrived with a few fellow travelers kind of late in Puerto Viejo. We met Sebastian, who has a hostel. We unfortunately didn't take him up on his offer to see his place. Big mistake!!! Stayed the first night at a popular but horrible place. First thing the next morning we went searching for Sebastian's place. It was fantastic!!! Everything... More

Loved this hostel ! It's super clean, since it is cleaned everyday. The chilling area is really.. chill ! There are hammocks and chairs where everyone can hang out together and there is also spots where we can be left alone when we don't feel super social. The location is awesome (right in the middle of town, close to the... More

I write this review after two nights here during semana santa (easter). + Great location: close to local bus stop, close to supermarked, bars and restaurants, but still in a quiet street. Kitchen to use! Guests can choose music through a computer in common area. Friendly staff. - During easter it was fully booked. Even 5 people sleeping in tents!!... More

I only speak with respect to the restaurant. The crepes were tasteless. What a disappointment for a French person looking for a French restaurant.. At least the young waiter was cool.

$14 a night, so you can definitely find cheaper ones with the same standard. When we got off the bus in Puerto Viejo this guy came up and asked us if we had anywhere to stay and wanted us to come look at his hostel. We did have a hostel we wanted to stay at but it was full so... More

Decided to stay in the hostel despite the high rate (14 USD for a bunk bed in the dorm). I had anticipated quietness since the hostel is managed by a French person. However, it turned out to one of the noisiest places in downtown Puerto Viejo. Guests played loud disco 'music' all the time. It felt as if you were... More

It was my only hostel in Puerto Viejo but I had there the most fun times from my whole trip in Costa Rica! The owners are usually nearby and they are both super nice! Plus, the receptionist Mathilde is funny and very helpful. All the hostel is super clean. The rooms are big and aired (and no need to pay... More

The Sel et Sucre is a nice place where you easily meet other travellers. There is a livingroom and hammock to hang out and spent an easy time. Also, Sebastian the french owner has an eye on his guests and ensures the nothing goes lost. We can highly recommend this place!
