I booked the El Lagarto restaurant for my wedding reception on 11.11.16. I was a little nervous, having never been there and wondering if 'grill food' was adequate for a wedding. But as with so many things about my destination wedding, I had to trust in my planner's advice. She and the manager Jorge offered wonderful combinations of a variety... More

The food was not good. The meat and vegetables we all overcooked. And the service was almost non existent.

I arrived early in the day and asked how late they were opened. The hostess told me 10pm. We arrived at 9:40pm that night and we were greeted with "we close at 10". I stated well it's not 10. She reluctantly sat us. It took 10mins for them to serve us. I think they were debating wether or not to... More

We had sunset drinks at this hidden restaurant. It has a view to die for with the promise of some stunning sunsets. Wow! The food seemed pretty fresh (we had bacon wrapped scallops). The prices are a bit high -- typical of Manuel Antonio -- but not outrageously so. And the bar was quite accommodating when we asked for some... More

The view was outstanding for the sunset. We did drinks and apps. The picante shrimp and bacon scallops were very good. It was cool to watch the cooking over the hot coals. The drinks were good.

Another recommendation by our property manager who has lived in Costa Rica for 25 years, the drive in looks a little sketchy but 100 feet later you enter into a open air patio that is decked out in teak wood. The decor is truly impressive. Hand carved teak wood tables, built into the floors, ceilings and even the serving plates.... More

With great views and ample installations, it makes for a nice sunset-watching or dinning experience, but the food, though generous and well presented, was rather bland. We had the fish fillet with mussels and the baby back ribs, along with a couple of piña coladas, and thought it was a bit on the expensive side. But hey, everything is overpriced... More

I have been coming to Costa Rica for 12 years and just tried this restaurant for the first time. Excellent food and excellent service. We had the Tres Carne Platter which included beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin and chicken. Definitely on my list for future trips to Playa Samara. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Our server, Daylin, was perfect and the food was nothing short of amazing. Daylin is bilingual and recommended an amazing dish (surf and turf #2). My husband had the lamb ribs which were also amazing. This was the best meal we've had in Costa Rica so far. My husband and I highly recommend!! We were also able to enjoy the... More
