We stayed at Maitai hotel and we had dinner all nights and we really enjoyed the food, much more than other more expensive hotels/restaurants. Fish was good, especially mahi mahi.

We stayed at the adjoining hotel for 4 nights so we were able to dine at various restaurants on the island, however the Omai was so superb that, in retrospect, I would not go anywhere else. The service was also wonderful.

Like everyone else, we loved the setting, particularly at sunset. Also the food is excellent (though not inexpensive). We had the salmon cooked with banana and it is a polynesian delight that we would recomment to everyone. The happy-hour drinks are very south-seas and extremely well priced (until 6:30 when the price seems to double) The cheeseburger for lunch also... More

We ate at Omai twice. It is an outdoor restaurant on the water with great views across the bay. It is the most beautiful setting one can imagine. The table settings are elegant, the service attentive and the food amazing. I had the Mahi Mahi, a dish I would never order at home in California. My son had the tuna,... More

Loved the beautiful setting with the pool and beach in the background. Sitting under the tall thatched stunning ceiling of a classic Tahitian building, we savored our scrumptious meals including lamb and mahi mahi. Each was prepared simply but very well to maintain flavor and juiciness. Delicious side dishes included breadfruit fries and eggplant souffle. I would eat there again... More

The breakfasts were just fine and were included in the price of our room. They covered their food which was nice compared to the Hilton on Moorea as it kept the flies out. Their food was much better cooked than the food at the Hilton as well. There wasn't as much variety as at Intercontinental in Tahiti and Intercontinental were... More

We stayed at the hotel and ate at the restaurant for breakfast, as well as a few lunches and dinner. Breakfast was pretty good - dinner was amazing. Excellent fish, good services and a nice view. It doesn't open until 6:45 PM though, which was a bit challenging with the kids who were hungry after a long day swimming. Of... More

This is the restaurant for the Maitai Lapita Village Hotel situated in Fare the only town on Huahine. It is also situated on the best beach (Bali Hai) on the island. We have been on Huahine for 3 weeks and have tried Relais Mahana, The Yacht Club, Chez Tara and last night Omai. Lovely warm welcome into this new (2011)... More

This is part of the Maitai, so we ate both breakfast and dinner here. Breakfast was good, dinner was excellent. Don't go to dinner too early though, because the people staying at the hotel have to cross through the restaurant to get to their rooms, so if you go right at sunset you get a bit of beach traffic through... Description
Restaurant Omai is the restaurant associated with the new Maitai La Pita Village Hotel on the island of Huahine. Here is the review I was going to post: Run, don’t walk, here. Or better yet, in keeping with the relaxed pace of the island, stroll in, but whatever you do, do not miss out. The food was surprisingly (for a hotel restaurant, granted this is not your traditional chain hotel) gourmet, with presentation on par with the most expensive restaurants in say, New York or Paris. And the price is good to boot. We intended to eat out a lot more than we did, but were drawn back to try various dishes on the menu. The restaurant is open air and set next to the (very small) hotel pool, on the beach. Service is very friendly and drinks from the Oaoa bar (the restaurant and bar share the open dining area) are delightful. If nothing else, treat yourself to the Vanilla Crème Brulee for desert.
