On 19th March 2017, we joined some friends and had a wonderful Portuguese meal at the Troyeville Hotel. My husband had the Prwan Special and he is still raving about them. We had a wonderful Sunday lunch there. The food and service was really good

The service is excellent. The food is sublime. Don't miss the Milk and Honey if you love beer. Calamari, espetada - yum!!! Order with round chips. You won't have space for dessert.

At the Troyeville Hotel you can choose to sit in the restaurant at the back with one of the best views over the urban jungle that is Hillbrow close to the Ellis Park Rugby stadium or in the rowdy but atmospheric sports bar in the body of this traditional early 20th century pub where there is a mixed clientele from... Excellent place for lunch, very authentic Portuguese/Mozambican food- prawns, fish, chicken livers, etc. Friendly service, especially to the kids, and personal service from the manager owner. Secure parking round the back of the hotel, strongly recommend.

The restaurant sells Mozambique food and has huge plates. If you are hungry and you like to eat with your hands, it is fantastic. It was not so easy to find the place.

About the only place in downtown Johannesburg which white people still frequent. We had great food including Mozambique prawns and rabbit. Nice to see locals in the bar sipping Castles and a busy restaurant throughout the afternoon. Don't miss to see a bit of authentic life in the city.

The Troyeville has been serving award winning Portuguese food for decades. We pride ourselves on sourcing the best ingredients and cooking them simply and deliciously. Our menu and wine list can be found on our web site. Our blackboard is full of special dishes that are inspired by the market. We often feature several different fish and prawn dishes.
