Been a customer for years and again enjoyed a delicious meal. Good for take aways or to eat in the restaurant. Best spring rolls I have found and would always recommend.

Earlier this month, I dabbled in the cuisine served at the Newlands-based establishment of Tai Ping. After my waiter hurriedly set my Sweet n Sour Pork noodles in front of me, I dipped my quivering chopsticks into the cosmopolitan community of vegetables and soy infused meat and rose it towards my awaiting mouth. As soon as the combination of spices... More

Hi. Great friendly and helpful staff. Good parking and security in the area including evenings. Food not really authentic according to our standards. More like American pseudo Chinese based on Cantonese fare. It will probably be OK for people who do not really know real Chinese cuisine.

Awful experience. If I caught the duck, skinned it and cooked it, it would taste better and take less time. Rename the duck the Sahara Duck. Bone dry to the point where it could light a veld fire. Rubbish decor, no vibe. What a waste of carbohydrates. Chicken and Beef superficial taste, no depth, again rubbish. Luckily our company was fantastic.

A great Chinese restaurant that's long stood the test of time, despite all sorts of new yuppy-style competition having sprung up nearby. Quiet ambience, attentive service, personal touch and really nice food. I'd recommend Tai Ping every time ahead of the clatter of what's nearby.

I love this place! After to a few friends, I decided to follow their advice and went to get some takeaway recently. A very friendly welcome and chat to the lady behind the counter, it felt like I was talking to an old friend. As a vegetarian, I appreciate the variety and look forward to working my way through the... More

Shocking service. Bad attitude when confronted. All of a sudden, nobody knows... I placed an order at 1900. Was told twenty minutes. Arrived at 1930. Waited until 2010. No apology. Will never in back.

Visited Tai Ping with a friend for dinner. Found the service very friendly and the ambiance was very peaceful. On top of all this the food was mouthwatering. It is a 34 year old Chinese restaurant and they have the same chef for over 30 years. Their menu hasn't changed for more than a decade now. This actually is quite... More

We have been to Tai Ping a number of times and regularly get takeaways from them too. Excellent takeaway service. Typical Chinese restaurant lighting and decor. I have generally avoided Chinese food thinking it very fried and oily. Tai Pings has totally convinced me otherwise. I love the hot and spicy chicken as well as the sweet and sour pork.... More
