We have now been to this establishment twice. Needless to say, this is our new local eatery. The service is great. The waitress remembers you from your previous visit. The owner is involved and it shows in the service. The food is to die for. My husband had Eisbein on both visits. I opted for the Pork Pot Roast on... More

This restaurant used to have a good reputation for its food, but no more. There is a deck outside & a pub inside. A typical "Local"

Meals served were very average. Cutlery and crockery cheap and nasty, decor ok. Coffee served was awful as restaurant did not seem to have a percolator. Unlikely that I will return.

Looking for a local pub, then this is the place. Reasonable bar with fair service & a few screens to watch sport on. Looking for good food at decent prices, look elsewhere. Place is a bit run down.

I went on a business trip and stayed over for one night. The experience was not good. The bed was uncomfortable with old linen. In front of the shower the mats were soggy, dirty and old. The room is basic and everything looks dilapidated. The breakfast was good and I assume it will fare better as a restaurant than a... More

Very friendly casual atmosphere, you can dine inside or on the deck, you can also just go for a drink at the cozy Pub. Service is quick, and the portions are HUGE. My particular fave"s are the Fish & Chips; Schnitzel and the fabulous Oxtail. Highly recommeded for casual dining.

Going to the BF as it is fondly known by the regulars is a real treat not only for economic good wholesome lunches but for the very best Eisbein in KZN! When this mammoth joint arrives on a bed of mash with genuine Sauerkraut [according to my blonde German friend] and well crisped crackling it is something to behold and... More

I stayed in the Black Forest tavern's accomodation for 3 weeks and had GREAT service. The room was clean and tidy and catered for my needs. The staff were more than helpful, friendly, polite and always ready to please. The resturant and bar were both a great place to be entertained / entertain visiting friends. The resturant had a FAB... Been around for ages. Cheap wholesome German meals. Eisbain the speciality. Not much atmosphere. Could do with a revamp
