The food was amazing. Beautiful fine dining styled restaurant. Great for couples, as the setting can be very romantic. The wine service was excellent, our sommelier was very friendly. The upstairs dining area is very private and quiet. The friandese was my favorite just because I really like chocolate.

We visited the restaurant the previous year and it was the best restaurant experience of the trip. We re-visited in February this year and again, it was faultless. The food is exceptional with being too fussy and the staff are knowledgeable and seem to pick up very quickly, the level of attention a diner requires. We will return again this... More

We had been told by a friend that this was the best restaurant in Cape Town, and by our experience they were right. It's not too far from the center of town and easy to get to by cab. The service was outstanding, with the server explaining everything in a most knowledgable way. I started with Wild Oysters that were... More

I feel it is difficult to give a fair review to a restaurant when in reality it did not agree with me in terms of its overall style. This is a fine dining restaurant and my feeling is that it is trying too hard. Apart from being expensive (for South Africa) - which is not uncommon in Cape Town -... More

There is not much to say other than this being an absolute must during your visit. The food is exceptional. We did the 5 courses wine paired tasting menu and had a wonderful experience. This was the second time we visited, and while the wine pairings were not as impressive as the first time we visited, I would not hesitate... More

The service and food were excellent! We started with a bubbly and some appetisers. We ordered Sea food, meat dishes and more local wine to go with our dinner. Very enjoyable evening and highly recommended.

The best part of our meal was the sommelier (can't remember his name, but he was from Durban). He inquisitively asked us about what we like, and what we ordered, and recommended the perfect wines to accompany our fantastic meal. Of course, the service and food were excellent as well. We enjoyed the Spring Bok and Ostrich steak, but the... More

We went out for lunch here on a hot day. Evenings are all booked weeks in advance. We had one of our best lunches in Cape Town. After a good glass of bubbles, we had the bisque and the grilled fish. For mains we had pork (really nice) and the rabbit three ways (still don't know what was the third... More

We had been booked the degustation menu (three courses with wine pairing) at L'Aubergine by the travel agency and came with rather high expectations. The taxi driver immediately knew where we were going, which confirmed our feeling we were headed for a well-known restaurant. Our visit also started off well. Stepping out of the taxi, we were welcomed by friendly... More
