This used to be the place to drink in Franschhoek however they seem to have lost there way and it's no longer a must visit place. I never thought I'd say this but even Takis seems to have moved with the times and modernised but the elephant seems to be in a time warp, no fresh ideas or beers or... More

Tucked away behind the main street there is a courtyard with the Elephant and Barrel, along with a couple of shops. A lively pub, with tasty, no nonsense meals at a good price.

Went here at 10.30pm when everything else in Franschhoek was closed! Good beers, nice atmosphere - popular with the younger crowd.

Every now & then you need a break from the "fancy stuff" without sacrificing quality. This pub, off Main Road, Franschhoek, provides just that. Good pub food, good draught beer and very efficient staff. Very enjoyable.

This is a typical pub environment, sport on the TVs, wide choice of drinks. A range of food options and the courses are pub size.

Just returned from visiting tonight. Planned to just have a drink but decided to eat there as well on the basis of what we saw coming from the kitchen! Lovely sirloin and burger, good choice of drinks, pleasant service and reasonable prices. Lovely change from chasing the fine cuisine!
