Already aware of the enormous variety of ethnic eateries we were lured in by the lure of Near eastern food and being more than critical when it comes to Turkey we stepped in with a smile, ready for a “Kurdish treat” for lunch. The corner of Greenmarket and Burgh Street promised some good “people watching” and did not disappoint. We... More

Stopped by twice and ordered the meze each time which was great as a snack with light drinks. Nice place to watch everyone in Greenmarket Square

We had a main course dinner here today. Leisurely Sunday but a great waited. He explained the coffees and variety of dishes patiently and they looked good mostly. My chicken fillet curry had lost its taste from the sauce but the chicken was good quality. Veggies were a tiny serving but also had been cooked a long time previously. My... More

Maybe it was the quiet Sunday afternoon or hot windy day that was to blame. Service was very slow. 15 minutes of sitting with a menu and finally having to call another waiter over to place an order. Food (cold meze) was okay but hardly more than basic cucumber and carrot in a sauce and a few other bland pots.... More

Very well located Kurdish restaurant on a pedestrianized street overlooking Greenmarket Square with its busy crafts market. The restaurant itself is scruffy with a long walk upstairs to the toilets. The building appears to have formerly been a theatre or concert hall. Drinks were fine, but service was slow and the pasta dish we ordered was disappointing. In fairness, some... More

We missed the market but decided to have a beer and a light dinner here, it was a good spot to watch the market being dismantled. Food was good and reasonably priced, we had the chicken livers and a lamb curry to share. Watch out for the steep wooden stairs leading up to the toilets, about 4 flights up, you... More

I visited this restaurant with my family last week for brunch and came away very disappointed. Firstly, it took a very long time for the food to arrive and when it finally did they only brought the food for 2 of the three of us. I had to wait an additional 15 minutes for my food. When my family asked... More

Located in GreenMarket, this is a great stop if you want to smoke and people watch. Good service, and good sheesha. Would be great at night I imagine as there is a nice patio on the second floor.

I'm easy to please when it comes to eating at restaurants and since I love trying out new places and Baran's was chosen as the place to try out on this day. Let's just say I definitely won't be going back to Baran's. We ordered a Pina Colada (which tasted like a milkshake, nothing pineapple about it) and a Strawberry... More
