Casa das Ratas is a very nice restaurant where the food seems like home food, very tasty. The portions are big, so ask for half portion if you're alone or a portion for two. The ambiance is perfect. Very portuguese way. People that work there are really friendly and want you to have a good experience.

Small but character laden experience awaited us. Locals were enjoying themselves and we fit tight in. Sangria was wonderful. Meal was a special of the day--pork chops--and they were delicious! Big meal for lunch but wore it off walking up the hill to The Convent of Christ. Atmosphere was dark but fun. Would definitely return.

Since we were hungry we arrived at the restaurant about 7. We walked in and the place was empty, the tables were set and some had bread on them but there were no staff. We waited and a waitress arrived, it seems the kitchen is across the street. She told us that they didn't open until 7:30 but politely she... More

This old warehouse of wine and food was preserved in its rustic style and maintained a humorous atmosphere that is a must see. The food was plentiful and delicious. I still could not resist the pears for dessert wine. Great experience!

Not your usual restaurant, more like a tavern but nice atmosphere, small no more than a dozen tables, background music (fado), plates and glasses used in the olden days taverns in Portugal. Recommend reservation, when we got there only 3 tables left and 5 minutes later, no tables. They do have a more modern restaurant across the road (all the... More

Found by accident - a long narrow room with old wine vats - the kitchen is across the street! Olives, bread & cheese to begin, starters were huge, the mains (roast duck, belly veal) large & tasty. Good wine of the house. Great service - and only e40 for two of us! Recommended

We were there on a very busy Saturday night. Staff was friendly and helpful. The waiter brought me a chair from the partner restaurant across the street when I told him I couldn't sit on the small stool (with my back problem). We ordered the veal, steak and pork chops and both were tasty and well-prepared. It was the first piece... More

Delicious traditional food with great prices and friendly service. We visited twice over the course of our holiday, each time having the recommended dish of the day. 1 whole portion was easily enough to fill 2 (very greedy) people when combined with a starter and dessert. The staff were efficient and friendly and put up with our dreadful grasp of... More

If you are visiting Tomar, going to Casa das Ratas its a must! They were able somehow to preserve the authenticity of the traditional "Tasca". Very good.

The food is of a high quality with plenty of variety and the staff are very helpful. It is a delight to dine in the sunshine and be part of the town's bustle. Definitely recommendable !
