We had the 3 course set menu which includes a glass of wine for a very good price. The waiter was friendly and spoke English. The food was excellent quality (we had the steak). Will probably go back tomorrow and try the garlic chicken.

I went there with my family the first night we after we arrived. The empanadas are awesome. I try the empanada de carne (beef empanada) and it was great. The food in general is great.

We chose Mala Cara because it was within walking distance of our hotel and it looked like a quintessential bistro - subdued lighting, leather upholstery, gleaming cutlery and glassware on dark tables, crisp linen, and lovely awnings on the front of the building. We arrived early by Argentinian standards and were served promptly by delightful staff. The beef dishes on... More

It just felt right. My daughter and zi shared the grilled vegetables and the entraña cut of steak. Perfectly done and just the right serving. We shared... More

Awesome vegetable skewers. If you don't already know, vegetables are hard to find in BA. Here, they are awesome! Steaks and sausage are very good as well. Definitely something to try.

A very attractive neighborhood restaurant. The steaks were only fair. They did not ask how we wanted them cooked, and mine arrived medium and my husband's was medium well. We traded. We had a nice Mendoza malbec at a reasonable price. The service was excellent.

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
