Dan Perlman presents cuisine that is interesting and pairs it with local wines. We had a great evening with a very diverse group of travelers which made for a lovely meal. i was relieved to not eat a "slab of beef". The food was very inventive and a mix of South American Cuisines. Don't miss the closed door dining experience... More

As a single traveller restaurants aren't always over excited to serve for one. The guys at Casa SaltShaker provided an alternative to my dilemma; a beautiful welcoming home, serving a divine selection of foods and wines, all tied up with an incredible group of strangers to share the conversation and enjoyment with. And it just shows that they cater for... More

Do not miss the opportunity to dine here with Dan! I went with two friends I was traveling with but highly recommend this for solo travelers as well as you sit in the chef´s lovely home at a table for ten and it would be such a fun way to get to know people. The five course meal, paired with... More

Dan and Henry's closed door dinner experience was absolutely delightful - held in their warm and lovely home, Dan and Henry were welcoming, the food was delicious, local flavours that I'd not tried before, paired with great wines, big portions. Dinner guests were eclectic and equally great - I went on my own and was very comfortable at the communal... More

Definitely the best meal and wine I have had in 2016! Casa SaltShaker was recommended to me and when I saw they were offering a closed door dinner on New Year's Eve I was ecstatic. Dan and Henry provided the most delicious meal, ambiance and great wine. My mouth is watering just rethinking about the many courses that were served.... More

Wonderful and unique dining experience in Buenos Aires away from the typical Parilla. Dan is a fabulous chef and constructed a phenomenal 6 course meal in his lovely home in Recoleta district. Great to dine with other travelers and to have a different ambiance. Make sure you communicate any allergies or dislikes in advance as the menu is set (but... More

Excellent concept, great host, superb food. This was the first closed door restaurant that we tried in Bs.As. and it set our standars really high... But why settle for less? Thank you, Dan.

On my way to Buenos Aires, at the airline lounge, I reserved for Casa SaltShaker and was really excited to go to a "casa cedar" dinner only on my second day in town. In a private home in La Recoleta I met other travelers and one foreign couple that now lives in BA. The hosts (cook/owner is American and the... More

Sorry to hear that we didn't live up to your expectations. The food is intended to be, as we put it, "sophisticated home cooking", and we hope we offer that level. My apologies if I came across as arrogant, I'm not sure what it was that had you felt that way. As to my partner being quiet - it may... More

Great "Puertas Cerradas" Dining Room. The concept is to eat at someone's home and have a private meal with a small group of people. Dinner with wine pairings 48 USD. Owners Dan Perlman and Henry Tapia in Recoleta with 12 seats. Dinner starts at 9 pm. Menu always changes depending what is in season. Really enjoyable and recommended.

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
