I stumbled across this restaurant while walking some side streets. The food and service were excellent. A few days later I suggested it a group I was working with and they also loved it. The following week we had reservations at another restaurant for our final team dinner and closure for our project. Several people in the the insisted that... More

Welcoming sherry in a welcoming environment and then cheerfully answered all our questions about the menu despite our struggle with Spanish. Food matched the excellent service. Our waiter left before we finished but came over to say buenos noches - and thank you for our visit. Shame we discovered it on our last night but definitely on our list for... More

Nice spanish restaurant, great decorations/atmosphere and one of the best paellas I've had in my life. The waiter was very efficient (which is quite rare in Argentine restaurants) and also offered us a free jerez (sherry) as a compliment.

We chose this restaurant being the nearet to our hostel, after a long day of travelling. The restaurant seems to specialize in sea food, but we chose steak as it was our last meal in Argentina. It was beautifully cooked. Service was attentive. Treated myself to a desert. Wasn't quite sure what I had ordered, but it turned out to... More

What a nice change from all of the Argentine parrillas and the over-cooked meats. This place was authentic and the service was awesome! Plus, you get a discount when paying in cash. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of rose, the variety of tapas, and a glass of sherry on the house. Quite possibly the best dining experience we've had in... More

Our first night in Buenos Aires, we had dinner at Hispano (mistakenly listed in some Trip Advisor reviews as "El Hispano"). It felt like an 19th century Paris restaurant. The ambiance was wonderful, the waiters superb and the food delicious. We had roasted salmon (first rate) and garlic shrimp (excellent). There was a decent, reasonably priced wine list and the... Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
