I went for lunch two days ago. First I asked for a Leek and Potato soup. The leeks were invisible, unless they cut off all green stems. It was diluted mashed potatoes. This is how we do it, I was told. Then I asked for a plate containing cole slaw, greens, saffroned rice, lentils and shrimps. The man did not... More

This restaurant is located in the upscale mall Patio Bullrich. They offer coffee and limited pastries, as well as sandwiches.

We had to ask 2 chatting waiters to step aside so we could enter, then wait 5 minutes to be greeted and 10 more to order though the restaurant was half empty and waiters were unoccupied. The food was just bad- plain salads and overcooked chicken. Bread so dry it broke into pieces. Waste of time. We were impressed with... More

4:45 pm. The place is half empty. U have to wait 15' for one if the 3 waiters to come over & take my order. I ask for the menu - and I wait another 35' for one if the to stop babbling with his colleagues and come to my table- what sort of service is that for one of... More

Nice place to have tea or coffee with excellent finger sandwiches and little pastries. Enjoyable place to see locals meeting each other! Everything very elegant.

We stopped here for a coffee and a cake and we really enjoyed it. Both the lemon pie and the "dulce de leche mil ojas" were worth it. Good smoothies too.

Located in a mall, you just sit at one of their tables to completely forget the shopping environment. I tried only the desserts and a coffee - a shot passion fruit mousse with mascarpone cheese and passionfruit sauce with fresh thyme. I never eat in malls when travelling, but Francesca is a good choice of shopping malls in the city.

This is a great place-- this could be any other good restaurant in the Recoleta area, not a typical fast-food "mall" place. The setting itself is in a high-end mall, just at the center of a great sunroof. Highly recommended.

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
