Spanish food in Buenos Aires: not so common as you might think. BA is heavily into food with Italian and of course Argentine influences. We went there for an early Christmas day dinner; maybe 8PM. It was crowded by the time we left, as dinner doesn't get started there till 10ish. We were a party of four, shared a large... More

Amazing experience, with all the spanish stuff. As it is little it is VERY important to go with a reservation. I was originally going with a group of 7 but part of our group had issues to go, so it was only 4 of us and we didn't had time to call the restaurant to tell them. But when we... More

We love Spanish food, we tried this place. Feeling like tapas, we ordered their tapas sampler plate, some squids in their ink and some garlic shrimps. The tapas plate was a bit of a let down with various items all served on toasts. Tasty but lots of bread involved here. The pleasant surprise was the squid, the most tender and... More

Had just a few hours in Buenos Aires and time for lunch. If not steak in Buenos Aires go for Spanish. This is one of the best Spanish restaurant anywhere. Very professional service, outstanding food in a great location in Recoleta. Their Sangria is really authentic as all of their food. Outstanding lunch at a reasonable price for the quality... More

This was advised by a close friend Hugo. The biggest tip he could have given! Go there for lunch and take the lunch special which includes wine and desert! The Zarzuela was amazing. You may not want to order the specialty mineral water as it can be as expensive as you meal figuratively speaking - excellent place for lunch and... More

This was the second visit and was not disappointed - well worth the visit. Great setting and good, attentive service. Food is authentic with true flavors. The tapas can be shared and will make a great meal in itself. Recommend the Patatas Bravas, Setas con huevo, Tortilla, and others. Make sure you order the Crema Catalana to end.

This is very popular so you really need to reserve a table or arrive around 7:30pm to get a table. By 9pm the place was full with a great buzz and a queue of hopeful diners forming. The food and service were great, got by with our broke Spanish and their broken english (some staff speak good english but they... More

Our host recommended this place for us to have lunch. It was a great recommendation, the a la carte is rather pricy but the lunch menu (a choice of each three starters, mains and desserts) is rather cheap and very well prepared.

We went without a reservation and, arriving just before their 8PM opening, were seated without difficulty. It seems that nearly half the sizable restaurant, the bar and all the tall tables in the front, cannot be reserved so if you are willing to eat at the unfashionably early hour of 8:00 or 8:30, it should not be a problem. The... More

We were craving Spanish food so we decided to try El Burladero. Great selection of tapas, we tried the Gambas al ajillo, boquerones and setas&eggs. We had red wine to enjoy the tapas. Good ambient, good service, definitively a place to go back!

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
