Interesting Catalan influences Resto I was drawn to in an effort to avoid yet more beef. I arrived early and even though the restaurant was less than half full the frumpy maitre d'elle insisted I sit at the very uncomfortable bar. The waiter at the bar was in love with himself and the restaurant and made it very clear that... More

Excellent Spanish food! Good service despite how busy it is. I came for lunch ans I tried the baby calamars with potatoes, very recommended!. You feel like in Spain in a Tapas place with your caña de cerveza.

Went trusting yelp reviews, place didn't disappoint! They have an english menu, seating is very spanish and the bar is awesome. They have some great wines and the food is just amazing. I ordered the black risotto with octopus, squid and shrimp in it. It was delicious, really look me back to Spain. I ordered a glass of Malbec and... More

Tancat is a very busy Spanish Restaurant near St Martin Square in the busy part of the city. The price of dishes are reasonable and the cooking is exceptional. We especially liked the Risotto with octupus and black ink squid sauce. The portions are also very generous. A good place to go for a casual meal.

We stopped into this Spanish tapas restaurant for lunch and had a great meal. The food was delicious. The vibe was good. The service was good. We had been walking all morning and needed a break and we never felt rushed. I highly recommend.

We made our first visit to Tancat on November 24. The place is beautifully decorated. It is also buzzes with customers, but you are able to hear. The menu features a wide array of Iberian-themed dishes, with a heavy emphasis on seafood. Everything we tried was very tasty. And the prices are quite reasonable. I will definitely try to get... We first noticed Tancat passing by the leg of meat in its window display. Luckily we went for dinner early enough (for Argentinean dinner) to get a table without a reservation since it was a Friday night. We had the jambon and risotto negro which were really good. Was also a big fan of the white wine.

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
